I was playing Super Mario 2 as a kid and I was standing on top of birdo's head, holding down the button to pick up stuff with a turbo controller. I had it on turbo to see if I could pull the egg out as soon as it fired or something. Birdo went to shoot an egg and I ended up instantly ripping off Birdo's head, and I was actually running around holding it. It just kinda took the head sprite off and let me pick it up like it would any other throwable object in the game. I've never been able to reproduce this. It was on a real NES with an NES Advantage arcade stick, some time in the mid 90's.
I tried to throw it at an enemy but it flew diagonally straight down through the enemy and off the screen. I don't quite remember what happened to the body, I know I didn't get the little key to open the eagle door from it, I had to go back and fight the boss again. But yeah, that's the story of how I ripped Birdo's head off.

That's pretty sweet. I'll try to attempt to reproduce that, but definitely no guarantees.
Do you remember what character you were using?

Further proof that Luigi is superior to his brother. Halluigia!

In that game Mario is much better than Luigi. Luigi's jump is too hard to control (for me anyway).
But in other games, I only use Mario because I'm player 1.

I prefer either Toad or the Princess in that game. As for ripping Birdo's head off, unless someone can reproduce it then it's like the time I...I dunno, turned the turbo button on and wound up skull fucking Bowser.

Luigistic commandments clearly state thou shalt not play as false idols, for he is a jealous Player Character.

I pulled off a glitch in Bubble Bobble one time that I was never able to reproduce, though I never really wanted to. We doing a two player game and we had exceeded the level's time limit. Two Baron Von Blubbas showed up and as we each died, they left. One one them didn't finish its exit morph animation, and so for the rest of the level, there was a white splotch on the screen where one of the Barons had been. It was weird...
Yeah, it looked kinda like semen. Ya happy now? OMG BODY FLUIDS ROFL!!!!

I've never played through SMB2 with anyone but the Princess. It's cheap, I know.

I was a big fan of the princess, but for some levels she just wasn't practical. And you needed Luigi in 5-3 if you wanted to take the warp.

I want to say that I cheaped a way out of that too, but I haven't played it in a while so I can't remember.

Which one is 5-3? The ice level warp where you have to dodge the waterfalls? Because I've done the entire game using just princess.

I can't access it now, but I believe it looks like this....
I remember now... I'd just ride on an enemy and super jump off them.
