Personally I find Malwarebytes to be the best.
For those who don't have the full version the free version combined with spybot search and destroy makes a great combo for keeping computers clean

This is just sorta copy/pasta from a different thread

Macafee as an antivirus program is a load of shit. My school uses it and my dad installed it on my moms computer. Well guess what, my moms computer's fucked (blue screen error) and my schools computers are constantly getting those rouge antivirus programs.
I've fixed my friends computer, my old laptop (that had macafee on it -_-), my mothers, and my grandparents computer that had rouge antivirus programms. All of them except for my friends had macafee on it and my moms died due to viruses macashit can't pick up.

That's why I love malwarebytes. It runs great and it picks up all the viruses when it's run.

I only wish i had the full version ofmalwarebytes was on my moms computer because then i'm confident its protection mode would have picked the virus that blue screened it

on a semi related note, If i ever meet the asshole or assholes who made those rogue antivirus programs i will personally kick him or her or them in the sack. ALthough if they or her do turn out to be women i will titty smack them

Malwarebytes is a decent malware removal tool, but usually needs to be used in conjunction with traditional anti-virus software and further removal utilities.

For straight up protection against initial attacks, I am a fan of Security Essentials. It is easy, free, and fairly quiet.

What about AVG? I'm too lazy to change antivirus, and it seems to work nicely, but is it really a lot more ressource intensive than most other programs?

I hear a lot of good things about Kaspersky and nothing but bad things about Norton.

I'm not a bad enough dude, but I am an edgy little shit. I'll do what I can.

I've been using Avira for quite awhile now and have had zero problems with it. The only thing that's slightly annoying is how much it has to update.

I used to use AVG and VIPRE as my mains and had Norton as a backup.
But then I got Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free. And it works better than any other antivirus I've had.

Takes little memory. Runs quickly in the background when I tell it to and doesn't hog resources.

And it's caught everything that has come after me.
I still have AVG as a backup but never have had to use it.

I use AVG. Used to use Norton until it fucked up my whole computer.
