It's a free game you can download it from the site if you want to play it.
Controls take a bit of getting used to but its just running with arrow keys then shooting/jumping with x and z if i remember.

No, though to be honest, that would be pretty awesome and probably doable with a couple of tweaks to the game.
There's a section where a second character is with you fighting as well and controlled by the AI, and there's an optional section where the same character is strapped to your back and you control their firing (yeah, optional...the game has multiple endings).

Cave Story is a nice little gem in an ocean of crap freeware games. the deluxe version is easy to find and comes with the soundtrack, the ORG music program and even a Balrog paper cut-out!

I just read that this will be available as WiiWare 4Q 2009 with bonus content. I don't know what bonus content it will have though.

I heard something along those lines as well. I think they're adding new guns, which may be interesting. Ah well, hope they don't jump the shark too much.

I've been meaning to play this game, but I keep getting sidetracked.
Just downloaded the files, maybe I'll start it up this weekend.
On the subject, anyone else have any good freeware/indie game recommendations? I played Don't Look Back the other day and thought it was quite good.

Uh I guess you can't avoid yelling "Huzzah!" while talking about Cave Story. Alowishus, the final boss marathon takes a bit of time, but shouldn't be too hard.

Just started up the game last night. Pretty good so far, the controls are nice and the gunplay isn't bogged down.
Misery's sprite hair is blue, but her portrait's hair is green. Huh.
