I originally made this post on IMDb, I've made a few changes to it because this forum is cooler and a lot less judging:
I love Greek mythology and the original film was amazing.
I like Sam Worthington as Perseus. Sam Worthington hasn't let me down yet, to me he was the ONLY good thing about Terminator Salvation.
Liam Neeson as Zeus is a dream come true...kind of. Love the voice but the messy hair and beard is unnecessary. This may of course be the decision of the director but Laurence Olivier's hair/beard was perfect. Neeson's voice with Olivier's hair/beard is a perfect Zeus.
Now I am am not racist but Pegasus being done as a black stallion gets to me. In all the stories I've read and images I've seen in various Greek mythology books, and the original Clash of The Titans movie Pegasus is white. However though in the original story of Perseus, Pegasus spawns from the blood of Medusa and in Clash of The Titans the winged horse is born long before that as he was the last of Zeus's winged horses. So I'm not all that irked by a little interpretation.
Another gripe...Medusa! Medusa should not look hot! I should not want to look at her. But of course in the trailer she does not look all that bad. I mean besides the snake hair and snake-like body I'd hit it. She looked horrible in the original, the way it should be. I had nightmares about the Medusa in the original movie...I expect something equally as terrifying to children that will see the remake. If I had a bad dream about Medusa I'd walk around my own house as a kid with my eyes closed until I found my parents, and even then I'd keep them closed just in case. The new Medusa should instill that kind of fear, and I don't see it.
However the Kraken does look better with the remake. The Kraken in the original always gave me a "Creature From The Black Lagoon" vibe.

Anyone who calls you a racist because you don't like the switch from white Pegasus to Black is a fucking alarmist moron.

Nobody has called me racist for thinking that but I just wanted to bring that up in case there are people that might be thinking that.

You know, I actually love the idea of a beautiful Medusa. Granted its not Greek cannon--she IS supposed to be hideous--but I actually approve of the change. It fits the SPIRIT of Medusa, which is almost Siren-like...luring people to their deaths and convincing them to gaze on her. I really, really like that idea. It worked astoundingly well in "The Lightning Thief," and I think they can pull it off well here too if the take the same sort of approach.

^ I thought it was completely and utterly awesome. Ultimate geek-out movie for Greek mythology buffs. You have to put up with some pretty...eh acting from the younger part of the cast (they're no Harry Potter kids), but overall, the good far, far outweighs the bad. Trying to figure out who or what Greek god/monster/reference is going to show up based on the clues you're given is a treat. And I won't ruin it, but all I'll say is that the major reference they throw in when the kids get to Las Vegas completely made the movie for me. Script is brilliant, acting (from all the adult backups) is very good, and the effects are excellent. Well worth the money imho.

nice, i was hoping someone else would endorse the lightning thief. although it looks silly & childish, i too am a huge mark for greek mythology.
and i agree w/icewarm about the medusa change. she should be hideous. obviously, she used to be hot and thats why she got turned into an ugly c-word, but the fact that she is alluring after the transformation is annoying to me.

^ I really can understand that. And really, in my heart of hearts, the Greek myth fangirl in me agrees. But it worked so damn well in Lightning Thief that I wholeheartedly forgive the retcon. (Uma Thurman totally wins for her performance in TLT by the way. Holy shit was she good.)

Well I'm afraid, because I have read the books, the movie will completely kill it for me. I'm probably going to go see it so I hope its good. Thanks Hawk.

I thought the Kracken in the original movie looked like King Kong's retarded cousin. Isn't a Kracken supposed to be a squid, anyway?

I liked it alright. It definitely channels a bit of Harry Potter mixed with Greek mythology. I loved Rosario Dawson as Persephone and Uma Thurman's part. With all the facial hair I thought Pierce Brosnan was the newest Dumbledore (recalling flashbacks to when the guy still had some color in his hair in Half-Blood Prince). Lastly, when I saw Joe Pantoliano was in it, my first guess was as Bacchus.
