They're remaking The Karate Kid.
With Jackie Chan, and Will Smith's kid.
I'll admit that Chan is probably the closest thing we have to a modern Pat Morita, but just the idea of this is all sorts of wrong...

Ok, the main problem I have seen with this movie is this:
Karate Kid circa 1984 had a believable plot. Kid moves to LA, gets beat up, learns Karate, kicks other white kids asses in Karate.
Karate Kid circa 2010 is total bullshit. A kid moves to China? Ok, WTF is he doing moving to CHINA? Whatever, then this 12 year old who looks like he is 6 decides to learn Kung Fu (Not Karate), to fight Chinese kids. Ok, wait, this is not California Surfer Dudes, these are hard ass little Wushu Master Chinese kids. These kids have been training all their life in the art of Wushu and this little Milli-Vanili kid shows up from Detroit and after a few months he kicks their asses? Fuck this movie, fuck it big time. This generation is doing nothing but fucking my childhood in the ass, first Transformers, then GI Joe, now this??? Get your own freaking identity!

looks horrible. jackie chan is doing his thing, but nothing else looks ok.
the reason the original worked, was because the fish out of water went east coast to west coast. not a huge change, but still a believable change. it also had a cocky white guy.

Well saying that Daniel-san was able to learn Karate and beat kids from the lethal Cobra Kai is just as unbelievable. Plus all he did was paint fences and wax cars. He should learn "Mow the lawn" or "Power Wash the siding".

Dear lord, it isn't even the same movie anymore. I'm thinking the Karate Kid name is merely being used to draw more audiences.

I enjoyed G.I.Joe and Transformers immensely. I'm going to try to look at this as a reimagining as opposed to a remake. hopefully that will make it easier to stomach. Jackie Chan is definitely doing his thing though. it's nice to see him doing something that isn't goofy disney crap again.

More believable than Chinese kids who are trained from birth, indeed. Besides, Daniel had prior training in Karate before he moved, he just improved on it enough to win a California tournament. Jaden Smith looks 5 years old and he is going to beat these kids who are groomed from a young age, NO.
