We clearly have an effect, and we can certainly have a significant and catastrophic impact on the planet if we want. If we set off a few nukes in the Amazon rainforest, for example, I'm sure the planet would feel that.
Climate change is a natural, long-term process, and the question is how, or if, we're influencing that on a grand scale. We can measure short term effects, but we can't know our long-term impact.

I dropped some change in a fountain in the mall. I wonder if it will effect how the mall functions.

I figure we came out of an ice age once, so Global Warming is a natural thing. Humans are definitley contributing to/speeding up Global Warming, but I think it'd be happening either way.

Why do men do anything crazy and drastic? For a woman of course. I met her online and said "Screw it, I'm 24 and got nothing going on here, and always wanted to see England, so what the hell" and moved in with her. It was always planned to be only a 5 year tour, then we'd move back to California together, so I took it as a bit of an adventure and growth experience.
@Alowishus: I'm in Bradford actually near Leeds. I'm not sure where Cambria is in relation to us. It's a nice country to visit when the sun is shining (i.e. rarely), and you can't beat the history, but it's going to hell very quickly with their rampant, uncontrolled immigration policies and the weather is just ridiculously stifling and depressing. It's hard to imagine the effect constant gray skies and cold, damp weather does to your psyche after a few years until you experience it yourself. I can't wait to leave.

If that's the case then it looked like it worked out pretty damn well. That seems like it would be a one in a million chance.

Yeah, the relationship is going pretty well. Far from perfect of course as I've been slightly depressed and homesick since I got here, especially with the horrible weather so that always puts strain on a marriage. We also have a 4 year old together, and kids always put tremendous amounts of tension and burden on a relationship. Everyone says kids are a joy, but in reality, they're a major pain in the ass, especially if you and your spouse have differing theories on how to raise him.
All in all though we get along, and should be on our way to California within the next 6 months or so depending on when our house sells.

Fun fact: We're still living in an ice age.
Another fun fact: A few decades ago everyone was worried about global cooling.
The stuff we do may not be good for the planet, but we're not affecting the temperature.

Today, more snow. This is the 2nd time in a row it's snowed on a weekend It seems to know. So no classes skipped, going out can be potentially dangerous... the gods don't want us to have weekends...

We're absolutely affecting the temperature. Cities, for example, have a huge impact on the local climate.
I don't think we're affecting the long-term change of global climates over the ages, though.
