I was just listening to the online stream of Blizzard-Activisions sales for 2009 and projections for 2010.

From what i heard Activision is attempting to get out a new COD by the end of the year.

Blizzard are releasing WoW: Cataclysm before the end of the year. Starcraft 2 is out sometime around the middle of the year and the closed beta is commencing at the end of this month.

That is all.

Would have provided sources but it's a live stream so blame me if anything of this is wrong.

They need to stop with the annual Call of Duty, especially if it is done by Treyarch. You already know going in it won't be as good as the Infinity Ward ones and on top of that I'll still be playing Modern Warfare 2. Of course Activision will make Infinity Ward give the MW2 engine to Treyarch like they did with the CoD 4 engine for World At War which was really just a copy/paste of Modern Warfare with a World War 2 skin.

I'd love to see a Vietnam CoD game but done by Infinity Ward.

Treyarch on their own can't program an engine for shit. Look at CoD 3, they built that one from the ground up and it is one of the WORST CoD games ever. The campaign was all right but the multiplayer was just terrible. Only USA VS Germany and the balance with the weapons was a joke.

To hell with these annual CoD games.

I prefer WaW to Modern Warfare any day. A Vietnam COD would be refreshing, as you don't see too many Vietnam FPS games.

I grew tired of CoD after the first two games. IMO I think that for the modern warfare games, should just be Modern Warfare and forgo the whole Call of Duty, because it isn't really a person being called to duty in those games or the feel of combat. It's like an over-hyped over-budgeted action movie with no real innovation to game play.

Their plan, get this, is to split Modern Warfare off of the Call of Duty name, and release one of each annually.

I thought World at War had a lot of potential, but it felt too much like Treyarch felt that they had to stick to CoD4's formula instead of thinking of their own. I like the fact that it was a gritty, somewhat realistic portrayal of WW2, though I disliked the way they handled the story as if it was just some bad-ass Schwarzanegger movie. Also, the upgrade system from CoD4 felt so out of place, and leveling up was boring and took forever.

Also, 'Call of Juarez:Bound in Blood' takes place during, and theres a few levels in which you have to shoot up some Union soldiers as a soldier of the Confederacy. It's a pretty good game.

I want a Revolutionary war shooter.

Casting Call Suggests that Next Call of Duty is Set in Vietnam

Rumors that the next Call of Duty will take place during Vietnam have been floating around for some time now, but we haven't heard much of anything from Activision. Nevertheless, evidence continues to mount that Treyarch's turn with the series will be set during that controversial era.
The latest piece of the puzzle is a Los Angeles casting call (via Videogaming247). Activision is looking for people to do motion capture and voice over work for four major characters from the real-life Military Assistance command, Vietnam - Studies and Observations group, which was active from 1964 - 1972.

The four characters include the "fiercely patriotic" leader Frank Barnes, the "physically fit" Joseph Lewis, 15-year veteran Jason Hudson and Russian-born martial arts expert and CIA operative Kristina Ivanova. The game itself is likely to launch sometime in November.

No matter where the game is set, it appears that Treyarch and Activision are definitely finished with World War II. The most recent rumors hit around January, suggesting that the next game will be based on Platoon and Apocalypse Now.

Don't expect Activison to sit on their announcement too much longer. Look for the formal reveal well before E3 in June.

This is gonna suck so bad. Treyarch have tried their hands at creating Hollywood-style action games, and they've all been so cheesy, they're almost vomit-inducing. Their earlier WW2 games were too similar to those cheesy '50s war films, while World at War tried to be too edgy. I have a feeling they're going to just try to do Apocalypse Now sans the meaningfulness and replace it with some jingoistic overtones and "bad-ass" main characters.

What I've realized thanks to games like World at War is that gamers aren't sick of WW2 games, they're sick of bland WW2 games. They're sick of having the southerner, the city-boy, and the stoic, gravelly sarge, and whichever one of them dies saying something inspiring or witty. World at War was good in spite of itself because it at times portrayed the gritty horror of war instead of sugar-coating it so that we'd feel the flags wave in our hearts. I always liked the Brothers in Arms games because the emphasis was on the characters and the futility of war, not on thinking that killing was awesome. Infinity Ward is going to inspire a million crappy modern warfare games, Treyarch will inspire a bunch of crappy Vietnam games, and a bunch of gamers will be sitting around scratching their heads wondering why all the games aren't good just because they're not set in WW2 anymore.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.
