Ok, these people are insane. No, not for their views, but for paying Palin $100,000 to speak.

What's Bill Clinton get on the public speaking circuit?

Like it or don't, Sarah Palin is now a very high profile political figure, and a busy one, and her time now costs a good chunk of change. A hundred grand seems cheap, to be honest.

The bunny is right, I can't remember what it was...but I remember Al Gore being an incredibly expensive speaker. I wish I could remember how much he was asking since we had the chance to book him at our school back in 2006.

^ I'm sure all (okay most) such high-priced speakers do a lot of 'volunteer' appearances for different groups and such too though.

I really don't disagree with her as much as I thought I would, but it's completely obvious that she is not a smart woman. She shouldn't be worth that much just because she reads cue cards on Fox News now.

Yeah, I mean I don't hate her either and she has her moments, but if this is the Republican's choice for 2012, it's not going to end well.

Teabagging is dumber than actually paying Sarah Palin to speak. I mean, like it or not she's a prominent figure in the republican party, and was a governer at one point.

All kidding aside, where was this uprising against government spending the last eight years when we were being pulled into a trillion dollar deficit.

And the Sarah Palin bash was only a joke, much like her being the face of the Republican party. I have too much respect for the GOP to believe that this could be their leader...

Ash is right. If people are going to have "tea parties", they should have started a few years ago.

As for Sarah Palin, I know she has a strong following, but I hope to god she doesn't run in 2012. She needs to get her supporters to get behind someone who can win, like John Thune.

This, IDK to me it seems like SSDD, not that I think all the people that go to the things are retards, I know a bunch who are rather intelligent, but it's no different than the people who were doing this from 2000-2008, I remember when people were in a tizzy over the Patriot Act, etc. burning effigies of W. , lambasting the right and whatnot? Only now it's the other side. You have your whackjobs mingling with the normal people at most any type of event like this.

Government has always spent money on stuff that is really not all that necessary. Many of these people are acting as if the new administration is the first one to spend a large amount of money. For example the first 700 billion dollar bailout happened under Bush. I think the government sometimes does spend too much money but people thinking that Obama is the first to do this is pretty dumb in my opinion.

Ice is right. These Tea Baggers probably weren't watching when a republican was in the white house. I shouldn't put it so bluntly, but there is not much to it.

All this attention and busy scheduling may cause her to age considerably by 2012, and then no one will care about her anymore.

Yeah, that changed hundreds of years ago. This is AMERICA, and we have freedom of speech here. It has ALWAYS made people patriots to question the government.

Also, I get pissed every time someone calls the protestors "tea baggers" or says they are "tea bagging". While the connection is more obvious in this case since they're calling them tea parties (Which I find disrespectful, but not as infuriating), the people calling them tea baggers would throw a fucking fit if they were somehow able to label members of, say, the million man march as "butt pirates".

Well I've always wondered what to call these people. As the sign in the first post suggest, they can identify with the name "Tea Bagger." I find this immature and moot, but what else is there to call them? "Tea Party Attenders" doesn't sound right. I don't exactly know if the people understand what the concept of the Boston Tea Party was. I can get the fight against big, foreign government, but they're looking at the domestic government. I find the notion that they are members of the "Tea Party" to be wrongly representing that idea.

The name business aside, I can understand the concern of large government.

And on the questioning the government thing. I believe questioning the government to be the most patriotic thing a citizen can do.

I think the term protesters is associated with liberals, therefore conservatives want to distance themselves from the term protester and instead use something kinda silly sounding. Unfortunate, but not damning or embarrassing.

Palin isn't the best public speaker, and I don't think it's a big deal that she wrote some random shit on her hand. What is embarrassing is in the same speech she hounded Obama for being a charismatic guy with a teleprompter. I guess it's more patriotic and old school to write shit on your hand like 5th grader.
