Where did you learn to count?
|
I didn't go up and down the list and count them one by one. Usually for every argument you and Jeebus have against Obama these guys have the definitive, unarguable retort to it. Yea they slam the left too, but I think their bias is slightly more against the right.

Also, this list fails for three reasons:
1. Does not include David Letterman
2. Includes Michael Jackson
3. Includes convenient scapegoat Jay Leno over Jeff Zucker, the douchebag responsible for what happened. |
1. Why?
2. Boohoo, stop your fucking bitching. Amidst this bullshit popularity resurgence by everyone in an attempt to look like the good guy, the more "fuck Michael Jackson" articles, the better.
3. True, but Jay didn't exactly fight tooth and nail against Zucker for Conan to keep his spot.

1. Letterman is tired, unfunny, philandering, increasing bitter, and increasingly political. He rarely has conservative guests on his show and when he does, he forgoes his usual hackish softball banter and instead tries to attack and embarrass them. His comments about Leno during the recent debacle where he constantly referred to his competitor as "Big Jaw" showed Dave for what he truly is: a childish, miserable little worm of a human being who has chosen to let his life be defined by his biggest failure: not getting the Tonightt Show. Dave, enough with the self-pity party already, it's old. Grow the fuck up.

Softball banter? He repeatedly asked Paris Hilton how jail was whereas most talk show hosts (Leno especially) wouldn't have the balls to be so confrontational!

Yeah, it takes real courage to ask a dimwitted celebutante how jail was. And that's the sort of question you ask once, maybe twice, if they pretend they didn't hear you. But if you ask it repeatedly, that's bullying and it makes you look like a jerk. It's one thing if you're interviewing a politician and you browbeat them until they clarify their position on an issue; that's important for the public to know. It's not important for us to know how Paris Hilton liked jail.
Also, Jay very well may have asked the same question. Jay took control of the ratings war with four words: "What were you thinking?"
It was Jay's candid, cordial interview with a publicly disgraced Hugh Grant that first established him as the dominant force in late night television.

Overall...eh. I do hate Glen Beck and a lot of assholes on there, but Obama? You're putting him in the same category as serious idiots, hatemongers, and murderers? (I did get a chuckle out of "YOU" being on there though.)
Also Robo, I have to say I agree with Glen Beck being waaaaay over Hassan. Hassan was an idiot and a tool, but Glen Beck is a true hatemonger--his kind of rhetoric *creates* people like Hassan, and that's far, far worse.*

Waaaay? Beck is only two entries higher!
Addendum: Never mind. I meant Hasan. Nidal Hasan.

What I really don't understand is why these guys have never attacked George Carlin with these lists. Moore, Maher, Olberman; none of these guys would be who they are if it wasn't for Carlin. Maher has specifically cited Carlin as an influence for his atheism and Carlin has appeared on Real Time numerous times, and Carlin, the person who says he doesn't trust any news source whatsoever, specifically went on Countdown and told Keith verbatim "this is the best news show on TV."
It's almost as if Beast is sticking to attacking the middleman, which is usally the opposite of how they work. Normally they don't fuck around. |
Carlin was funny. Maher isn't. |
Oh, shut up.

Carlin is a comedy legend. Maher just strikes me as an unfunny, yet inexplicably condescending, douche.
If it makes you feel any better, I feel the same way about Dennis Miller.

I went on a rampage of buying standup dvds a while back and picked up one Miller did in 04 or so I think. VERY FUCKING high brow dick jokes about foreign policy. Even the hoity toity creased jeans with loafers and sport coats crowd seemed confused for half of the punchlines.

Yeah, Miller's hit or miss with a lot of his material. Mostly miss, and I consider myself a fan of him. But even as a fan, I fucking HATED him when he was on MNF.

This is exactly where I am with him too. I loved PI a lot of the time, but after he left...he just went downhill.
Kind of like whatshisname....Michael Moore (albiet not on the same level.) I really actually liked Roger and Me. It had its faults, but overall I thought it was a pretty damn good film, and that he handled his subject matter quite well. Bowling for Columbine was...well, rather than having its bad moments, it had some GOOD moments that made me appreciate his points. And then he did Fahrenheit 9/11, and a bunch of retarded publicity stunts that would be more suited to Borat than someone trying to make a political point. And THEN he somehow got made a figurehead of liberalism (wtf? No one ever let ME vote on that!) although I think even most liberals see what an ass he is at this point.
I have heard from friends that his latest film, "Sicko," was actually fairly decent, and something of a return to form (by which they mean I won't storm out of the theatre pissed off that the fat bastard is claiming to speak for people like me), but I dunno. I'm scared to rent it, lest my blood pressure skyrocket.
Um...wow. Didn't quite mean to turn that into such a rant. I guess I'll try to swerve violently back on topic by wondering why Michael Moore isn't on the list...?

Probably because they didn't think "Capitalism: A Love Story" was that bad? He was on this list back in 2002, if that counts for anything.

Michael Moore is always a propagandist and an attention whore. Sicko is probably better than some of the other bits he's done simply cause he doesn't jump in front of the camera very much. He leaves out crucial information about the free health care systems of other countries, and Cuba takes advantage of his willful ignorance to all but stage a photoshoot asserting its government funded healthcare reaches anyone but the wealthy and powerful.
If you have to take something from the movie, its should be that the healthcare system is pretty well broken and something needs to be done about it.

Michael Moore kind of stopped being relevant after Farenheit 9/11. F911 had a huge media blitz behind it and people on both sides of the aisle wouldn't shut up about it. After it failed spectacularly in its singular goal, to get Bush out of office, people stopped caring about Moore. Nothing he's done since that movie has been more than a brief, light blip on the mainstream radar. So yeah, he's still a wholesale fact-distorting propagandist, but no one's listening anymore. And it's hard to be one of the most horrible Americans of 2009 when no one's paying attention anymore. At this point, Michael Moore is no more important than a guy with free Angelfire page, getting 3 hits per month and spouting off conspiracies about how Rumsfeld planned the 9/11 attacks.

^ Excellent point, and one that made me feel a lot better actually.
Now if only we could get Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh into the same category, my life would be vastly improved.

hahahahaha
Since we're kind of on the subject of Limbaugh, let's segue into one of my all time favorite comedy bits by Bill Hicks.

As much as I dislike Glenn Beck for his brand of yellow journalism and ludicrous fear mongering, I think it is preposterous that someone would think he is worse than the fort hood shooter. Go tell the mother of one of those kids who got killed that you think Glenn Beck is a worse person than the man who killed her son.

Fuck Glenn Beck. He's an ignorant, heavily bias (like every Journalist on the majority of news outlets), pancake pseudo-philosopher etc.
Add the balloon boy's parents on there. Fuck 'em both. Two times.
