Not about the current one, but the original. Has anyone ever played it, or the second one? Cause I'd love to get your impressions on 'em. The only reason I'm considering it is because I loved the 3rd game so much, and I don't want to buy a game for a tenuous reason like that.

I've played them. Back in the day, they were unique and had an awesome style to them as well as being pretty fun and engaging.

However, going back and playing them now, they don't really hold up in my opinion and even look more dated than they should which is distracting. A lot of the gameplay innovations they featured 15 years ago are commonplace now so that aspect is missing too.

I say give them a try, what could it hurt? But they are definitely a different style of game than Fallout 3, and haven't aged well.

I think the games have aged wonderfully. It's one of those games where you are always willing to start a new game because character creation is so simple and fun. Definitely give both of them a chance.

I've got them on GoG... the first one started off pretty good, but it's taking me a little bit of time to get used too

They are great games, but they are old. The interface system will seem a bit clunky and hard to get use to, but if you have patience, then it is totally worth your while.

As long as you don't mind drab graphics and an universe where you can't run in a vertical straight line, you'll have a blast. They're still deep, challenging and immersive games, with interesting universes that feel non-linear enough to keep you entertained for quite a while. I've played thru both of them so many times I've lost count.

My only gripe is that there are some useless skills, something Bethesda fixed in FO3. If you spend points in... say, explosives, you'll be almost surely wasting them. There aren't enough sticks of dynamite and plastic explosives to really make it worthwhile.

If you enjoy the games, try searching for their "Restoration Projects" when you finish. Some modders have put together all the content that was originally intended by Interplay but left aside for the final release, and it rocks.

It's too late now because you haven't been PAYING ATTENTION.

Looks like there's a new game coming out: New Vegas. taking place back on the West Coast (obviously). Trailer here: http://kotaku.com/5464157/fallout-new-vegas-set-for-fall-release
