I had some problems with MM, not because it was a bad game, but simply because it strayed a bit from the standard Zelda formula.
This is a good thing though.

The only real problem with Majora's Mask is that once you know what you're doing, it's fairly short compared to Ocarina. There are only 4 dungeons and 5 bosses.

I don't know about "superior". They're completely different games. Ocarina is a lot more replayable, but I had a lot more fun on my first playthrough of Majora's Mask than I did in my first playthrough of Ocarina.

Majora's Mask makes up for its sparse amount of dungeons with a shitload of sidequests, many of which are vital.

I was never too sure about MM, but you guys seem to have enjoyed it so I think that I'll give it a whirl today instead of the Diablo 2 clickfest I was gonna pursue.

i like MM more than i like OoT. the story was better and everything worked very well w/each other. as syd said, it is a very well designed game.
and syd, its 'gangbusters' not 'ghostbusters'

Now that I've got a Wii I should probably look into Oot and MM just to see what all the fuss is about.

I think he was making some sort of pun. But anyways, I just started playing it and will probably continue to do so for the rest of the afternoon.

I'm wary to trust any information from channers.
What's the big deal with everyone speculating on the time lines to the various Zelda games? I always interpreted it as thus, they're legends, that's why the same recurring characters or character types and plot devices keep reoccurring albeit with slight variation. Who cares if you're playing the original link (Zelda 1 - 2 and maybe Ocarina) or his predecessor (Link to the Past) or his spiritual successor (Windwaker)?
*I am dead tired so if this seems poorly worded on incomprehensible my bad*

Majora's Mask is my favorite 3D Zelda game. I would love it if the new Zelda game had an atmosphere similar to MM.

Seeing as Majora's Mask is my 2nd favorite Zelda game right behind the original, all I have to say is...FUCK YEAH!!
Sure it was short, but as someone already pointed out, you have to do a shitload of side quests, including beating Goht about 4 times. And I might be wrong, but I don't remember being able to replay bosses on Ocarina, which is why I enjoyed Majora a lot more.

I think the side quests kinda made up for it.

Yeah, you can't replay bosses in Ocarina.

Get rid of that stupid time limit and I'm down. OoT > MM imo, just for that. Always felt like I was being under pressure all the time.

This is disturbing and enlightening at the same time.
What if they bring back the multiple transformation facet from MM? Instead of just transforming into one other thing, having another system like the masks. I would love being a goron or zora again. It's things like those that make me miss MM.

I don't understand why anyone had a problem with the time limit, I could almost always very easily complete several tasks at the same time. Oh I need to meet Anju at midnight? Well, it's 6 pm right now, I guess I can complete the Town Shooting Gallery while I wait. I need to wait on Kafei till 3 pm? Well I guess I'll go ahead and kill Dodongos in Hyrule Field for rupees. And if you can't beat a dungeon within the time limit, then you just aren't very good at Zelda. I very very easily can complete a dungeon by the 2nd day, and I can literally fuck around half of the time and still manage to win. Look at the Snowfield Dungeon, it's a pain in the ass to get the middle room's tower to the point that you want it to be, but it's not impossible. The only thing that I really hated about the time limit was if you were in the process of doing something, such as a mini game and the fucking screen would pop up telling you how much time was left in the 3 day cycle.

The only problem I have with the time limit is how you lose all your arrows, bombs and all that, and sometimes I have no fucking idea where I'm supposed to collect/buy them.

Well...just go to Hyrule Field and spend 30 seconds by destroying bushes and you'll very easily replenish all your arrows and bombs, as well as get some rupees. The only things that are a pain to replenish are the Deku sticks and potions, especially if you're in an area that needs them. But you don't even really need potions in this game since you get like 6 bottles.

When you warp back to the first day just find that chest in clock town with a 100$ rupee in it, save it in the bank, rinse and repeat.

There's actually several extremely easy chests with 100 rupees each everytime you start:
Anju's room on the third day in hotel
Guest room in hotel
Cave wall in Bomber's Hideout...use bombs...watch out for the spider
On top of building next to Honey and Darling's Shop...use bunny hood or roll jumps
And if that's not enough for you, go to Hyrule Field and kill Dodongos for 50 rupees each...still not satisfied? Kill that giant fucking bird for 200 rupees
I'm not kidding when I say, there aren't any major flaws in this game at all, so it does annoy me when people say they don't like it because it's so much different than Ocarina of Time...as if Ocarina of Time is some sort of Messiah of games. It's just Link to the Past in 3D with a horse...it's still a good game...but it's not like it was some sort of miraculous all powerful breakthrough in gaming. So when Majora's Mask comes along and actually does introduce cool new things in Zelda...all the fanboys at my high school shit all over it, so it was actually a couple years before I picked it up and played it.

I haven't finished MM, but when I get the time, I'd really like to complete it. It might be my favorite Zelda so far...But to be fair, I love the movie "Groundhog Day."

I should try the 3-day challenge once. The hard part is getting to Romani Ranch on Day 1 before 6 PM, otherwise you're fucked and have to restart.

3 Day challenge is hard, you can basically forget trying to get the gilded sword and such, by the time you get to Zora's Domain, it's usually the third day...at least the two times I tried the challenge.
And Milhouse, there's nothing wrong with Groundhog Day, although I would've preferred a darker ending.
