I ordered one of the OEM ones off ebay and I just got it in the mail today but the fucking thing reeks of smoke so I cleaned it with some windex and I'm airing it out now. Is this thing safe to even use?

I might consider buying one in the future. After all, not all power adapters last forever.

You know, I found an adapter that works with the NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis. Would anybody buy that if they're desperate enough?

Are you telling me I should buy another one or talking about yourself?

Damn, I hate those ones. That's why I decided to find an oem one.

Well, I was talking about myself, but it could apply to you, too.

Well, I don't need to worry about it too much, I suppose.

I had one that broke, which really sucked since this was around 2002.

I bought a 3rd party adapter that worked, but for some reason, I now have another (or my old) AC Adapter on my SNES and it works just fine. So I don't know...just thought I'd throw that out there.

And it would be fine...as long as you didn't submerge it in Windex it should be fine. Just be very careful since they can easily get fucked up if you drop them or anything.

Also...one last note...anyone who does use Windex...please don't use a product called "Nature's Source" because it somehow ends up making everything smell like foul vomit.

I'm still a little reluctant to use it now till the smells near gone. I don't want my room and system smelling like smoke.

I can understand that, but you just asked if it was safe or not.
