With Netflix, why in the hell do video stores still exist?

I use red box for the few times I actually rent a movie. Only thing that sucks is it's only recent releases only but for an older movie that I want to watch again I'll probably just go ahead and buy it anyway.

Well I think red box is nice too for those times when you just feel like a movie and don't want a video store, unfortunately not everyone has a redbox.

How the hell can you not? I worked in a Blockbuster, and if I stood at the front door (ok, and had X-Ray vision to see inside the building across the street) there were FOUR Redboxes. One across the street in front at a Walgreens, one RIGHT FUCKING BESIDE THAT in a McDonald's, and TWO diagonally across the street from that inside the Albertson's grocery store.

I mean, to me, Redbox is more intrusive than goddamn Starbucks.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas.

I love Netflix. The biggest reason I have for having it is the television seasons available. A lot of video stores just don't keep a good selection of shows and a lot of them that do don't always have all of the seasons. Netflix always has the shows I want.

I like Redbox if I want a new release. Most video stores charge a lot for them. Redbox charges a buck. If it isn't available for instant viewing on Netflix, I will use Redbox because on Netflix, my queue is full of tv shows. Also, when I want a new release, it is usually something I just heard about and want to see now, or my wife making an impulse decision to watch a movie. Plus I don't have to waste a Netflix selection on her chick flicks.

I love Family Video. They usually have a great selection. Plus they are cheap. While the new release movies are still more expensive, they have old movies for buck or even fifty cents. Also, stuff from the kids section are free rentals. You can also pay a fee and get half price rentals for a month. I used to stock up on the two for a dollar movies if I had a weekend with nothing to do or if my friends would get together and watch old movies. With the half price, it made them only a quarter a piece. I'd spend a buck and a half and get six movies. They also have porn at Family Video (which sometimes gets protested from the sidewalk). You can't get this from Netflix and not everyone wants viruses on their computer. Not that I ever rent porn there.

Also, most people I know don't have both Netflix and Gamefly. So pretty much everyone I know has to go to the video store to get at least one or the other.

I spend too much time at my house. Getting out and interacting with other human beings, maybe grabbing something to eat while im out, or check out some new games is why I occasionally go to blockbuster or it's ilk. I don't know, I get all restless if I stay at home too much. Going out to do things, even paying bills as opposed to the more convenient method of online bill pay/shopping lets me breathe fresh air and see sunlight or moonlight. I almost always regret this decision, however, because I have a short temper when it comes to driving, and people around here are morons on the road.

I just enjoy browsing the shelves of a video store. I met one of my ex girlfriends that way actually.
