On top of that, it just makes me nervous when people close to my age die young. Like Heath Ledger. I think he was only a year older than me.

Yeah, but that was really weird and fucked up circumstances.

I don't think a famous actor found dead of a drug overdose with drugs all around him is out of the ordinary anymore, Hawk.

I believe she meant that the average person shouldn't be nervous over the death of a celebrity when it involves heavy drug overdose.

That's really surprising. She was really young, R.I.P.

I saw this as a line at the bottom my mail homepage and had clicked away before I was like "Wha..?"

Unexpected to be sure, but I'm guessing drugs.

So uh, is it now inappropriate to masturbate to her?

Sadly true. My point was just that Undeath didn't need to be nervous, since Mr. Ledger's death involved things that 'Death (hopefully) doesn't have to worry about. Age wasn't really an issue.

Yeah,32 year olds just don't have heart attacks at random unless there is some congenital defect there, or they have a thick history of drug abuse and/or eating disorders.

It's really tragic though to die that young for any reason. I liked Brittany a lot and think the world is an uglier place without her.

Sounds a lot like a cocaine OD from everything I have read, but there is also a chance of a heart defect that went undiagnosed, we will find out after the toxicology screen and autopsy. She was something special and I am going to miss her. : (

So I forget, was [adult swim] having new King of the Hill episodes made or was that over and done with? Would be kinda hard to make the show without Luann...

It's not that I imbibe in certain unhealthy habits that would indeed cause a heart attack in my late 20's-early 30's or anything, it's just that lately deaths, especially young deaths, have been getting to me because in my personal life I've just lost two cousins and a close friend through completely preventable and stupid accidents in the past few months. We all have that shell of invunerability and mine's been thoroughly shattered over and over again, to the point where I'm the opposite of desensitized-- ie, more younger people die, the more it frightens me.

Not only is that not right, that's not even wrong. It's a meaningless statement. Saying something is "one molecule away" from plastic is like saying a farm is one letter away from a fart. Water is "one molecule away" from being explosive hydrogen gas.

Nah, they could just ship her off to some camp or a long-lost relative or something.

well, you have to realize that you are going to die. until you realize that, you will be held back in anything you do.

well, justin timberlake did bring sexy back, so if he died we'd have to wait for someone else to do it again.

Kim Peek, the man who inspired the Oscar-winning movie "Rain Man," has died at age 58 of a heart attack.

Apparently a recent SNL skit that made fun of her has just been pulled.

http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=448311&gt1=28103

Personally, I don't agree with this kind of PC/censorship or whatever you want to call it. Was the skit "distasteful" before she died? Now suddenly it's wrong to allude to the possibility that she used drugs, because it turned out to be (most likely) true?

For the record, I never saw the skit and don't know if BM ever used drugs. Never followed her career or personal life. But if it's true that she died of a drug overdose, why is it ok to poke fun at her use before she died, and not after?

Because she's dead. Is it really that hard to understand?

Poking fun at her when she's alive and can be in on the joke or even defend herself is fine, but now that she has tragically died so young, probably from said drugs, it's in bad taste and no longer funny. Only sick motherfuckers would still find the skit something to laugh at and I don't think SNL wants to hear crickets in the audience when they perform it.

It's like making fun of Britney Spears when she went crazy and shaved her head, but then if she died of cancer a week later, suddenly riffing on her bald head and craziness isn't all that funny anymore. Get it?

Comparing a person suffering from cancer to an advantaged person who becomes a drug addict is a weak analogy. I'm sorry if I lack sympathy for a person who had fame and fortune heaped upon her, and then voluntarily destroyed herself.

Ok, I'll concede that taking down the skit is probably the right thing to do, if only for her family's sake (and also the fact that a few SNL members have died in similar fashion). But I still don't have a grain of sympathy for her. She won the lottery in life, and threw it all way.

I didn't make the analogy to appeal to your sympathy, but to reflect that doing any skit making fun of someone after they've died is in poor taste.

You don't need to have sympathy for the person to realize that whatever joke they were going to make is no longer funny and that's what the decision was about.
