Okay, let me be more specific.

Do NOT list the ten games you played the most in 2009.

List your ten favorite games that were released this year.

Contra rebirth

I have only played four new games this year, and one of them was actually released last year on a different system so that makes it three completely new games. I have a bit of a backlog to go trough since i just got into the seventh generation this year, so i have not been able to play a lot of new stuff.

Well, here goes
1) New Super Mario Bros. Wii - great, great game. I just love the fact that Nintendo have finally produced a new 2d mario game for a console, and the fact that it is actually really good too, makes this my choice of game of the year 2009.

2) Tales of Monkey Island - another retrorevival that turned out really well. Not all the chapters are equal in quality, but overall, the series have a great plot, solid puzzles and good humour. And i just loved how they went a much darker route towards the end.

3) Braid - this game technically came out last year for the 360, but i played it this year on the pc, and i must say it was a really fun game. I did not care to much for the hyped and postmodernist story, but i think the puzzle design is one of the best i have ever seen. Not one of them were outright east, and none were too difficult to figure out after some thinking, which made solving them so satisfying.

4) Contra Rebirth - this game is good, but not at all on the same level as the first three (have not played the fourth). It was fun to play true it with a friend, but have not played it since. Nothing spectacular really.

However, my favorite gaming moments of the year would be a bit different, topped by greats like Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess. And of course this years E3 which unveiled a new 2d mario on a console and a rebirth of the Monkey Island frachise.

10 - Wolfenstein

I really enjoyed this game, despite the lukewarm critical reception. Balanced multiplayer and a fun, albeit short single player campaign made this a good game.

9 - Bionic Commando

I know some of you guys aren't quite on the same page as me here, but I had a great time playing this game's campaign. Swinging around, shooting shit up is a blast. Reminds me of Spider-Man with a gun. Multiplayer Spider-Man with a gun, however, isn't as fun.

8 - UFC 2009 Undisputed

I'm not too big of an MMA fan. I enjoy it more than "professional" wrestling and the like, though, so I decided to give this game a try. I had a blast building up a character and kicking ass in single player. Then I could go into multiplayer and get annihilated! Some of the most fun combat I've seen in a fighting game.

7 - Guitar Hero 5

Under Pressure.

6 - Modern Warfare 2

God damn, did Infinity Ward strike gold with their addictive multiplayer. The campaign is pretty great, too.

5 - Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony

This episode is definitely the better of the two, and seems like Rockstar's attempt to (at least slightly) bring the series back to its humorous, mayhem-laden roots. This guy gives you some of the most fun missions (and hilarious cutscenes) in the entire GTA IV trilogy. That alone is worth my money. Arab money, that is!

4 - Trials HD

This LIVE Arcade game took me by surprise. I expected a cheap little clone of those flash games you see all over the internet. Instead, I got some addictive, hard-as-nails physics based gameplay. Throw that in with a level editor and you have one hell of a $15 game.

3 - Left 4 Dead 2

This one's been out only recently, but it's a huge improvement upon the first one. Instead of 4 campaigns, there's 5, all of which are very entertaining and have huge replay value. Versus mode is still a blast, and the new modes (Scavenge, Realism) aren't half-bad either. I can imagine playing this for months to come.

2 - Skate 2

This game is the best skateboarding game, bar none. Better than any Tony Hawk, better than Skate or Die, better than 720. A huge in-game map, easy to learn, hard to master mechanics, and user-created content galore make this one of my favorite sports games ever.

1 - Borderlands

Ah, Phantasy Star Online for the Xbox generation. I didn't really hear too much about Borderlands until its release. Once it came out, I decided to give it a shot. Holy shit, it's addictive. It's a damn near perfect blend of RPG and FPS.

Yay! I've been unemployed the entire year.
THIS MEANS I AM PLAYING HARD MODE!
Um...
Fat Princess. Never played. Want to badly.
NSMBW
Uh... SHIT !Blazblu? I've only played a few times but I love watching people play it... I suck at fighters.
Scribblenauts! Now if only they'd fix the physics...
Arkham Asylum? I haven't played it but seen a bunch of shots and I WANT to.
Uh... Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. Haven't seen a screenshot. Only know of a few people in it. Know nothing about the game other than it's the sequel to MUA 1. And that's fucking good enough.
Uh. Errr...Oh! Spirit Tracks! Sure!
Lesseeeee... that's 6... #7 is... Is...

FUCK IT! FUCK YOU ALL. ;__;
You might as well have said "Hey Lottel. We know you've been trying not to look at games since you lost your job because it's painful knowing you will not play these games. But pick the top ten games of the year"

And yes.The only two games I actually played were NSMBW and Scribblenauts. ;__;
