I've had Vista for five months and I haven't have had any real gripes with it.

I installed 3.1 on DOSbox and it didn't have that background. Did you change it?

This is what I see when I run it.

I like the title bars for 3.1 better than the newer versions of Windows.

I miss PIF Editor! Also, the old school Control Panel icon.

Fun Fact: Although Program Manager was rendered obsolete after Windows 3.1, it was still included in every version of Windows up through XP. Windows Vista was the first version to remove Program Manager support.

I remember not knowing jack shit about computers as a kid and subsequently deleting essential programs through file cabinet or whatever it was called trying to make space for the then newly released Mechwarrior 3. When that didn't work my idiot buddy came over and started deleting things like AUTOEXEC.BAT and SYSTEM 32. Sad to say we never did end up with quite enough space, and eventually turned my Mother's Gateway 2000 in to a paper weight. Embarrassed No... just no.

Speaking of ugly, remember how fugly MS Paint was?

I still have it on floppy, along with Jezzball, Chips Challenge and the whole Windows Entertainment Pack thingy.

That pack was epic. My favorite of the pack was Fuji Golf... sadly that's damn near impossible to work on XP. And Jezzball is often called something else, much like a damn Qix variant I'm not proud to say I've played...

That was in the After Dark screensaver pack from Berkeley Systems. I actually have a copy of it for Windows 95/Mac that I got at my college computer tech support job. It still works under XP. The college was getting rid of a lot of old stuff and they let me take what I wanted. That After Dark CD was one of them.

I've never seen Jezzball called anything else. I had a very similar game though, called Maxwell, that used many of the same sprites.

And let's not forget Snood and DX Ball!

There was another game that was fairly popular for awhile in the Win 95/98 era, I need help locating/identifying it. IIRC, it was a Missile Command variant. In between levels, there was a shop where you could buy upgrades, and when you bought something, it used an unlicensed clip of Ned Flanders saying "Okely-dokely-doo!". There was also an intermittent minigame where you played as a mushroom and had to grab falling money.

Yeah, that is just one of the included bitmap files used as the background.

You can get SkiFree on your XP computer (not sure about Vista) for free!

To avoid the Abominable Snowman make sure "F"ast mode is on and go in a diagonal movement after you finish your run. The Abominable Snowman can't go that way for some reason.
