Cruising along...

Voltron - Five heroes piloting giant robot lions defend their home planet against an evil invader...and when things get tough, the five combine their robots to form...VOLTRON!

Rugrats - While the adults are handling their boring mundane lives, their babies keep themselves busy by having fantastic adventures in their imagination.

Inspector Gadget - Bumbling detective Gadget (voiced by Don Adams, which is completely awesome even if you don't know who that is) solves cases to unravel the schemes of Dr. Claw, but mostly through the help of his niece Penny and her dog Brain.

The Fairly Oddparents - Timmy Turner's miserable life is brightened up when he's assigned Cosmo and Wanda as his fairy godparents, who can grant him any wish he wants. But as it turns out, getting exactly what you want never turns out the way you expect it.

GO!

...and I just had to share this from the chat:

[21:42] <UsaSatsui> Okay, how the fuck do you describe "Rugrats" aside from "Muppet Babies, minus Muppets"?
[21:42] <slayer_professional> Retarded parents
[21:42] <FigNewton> I was in Tristis Pass, and I went down in one of tose little thingies with the spiders and a chest, right?
[21:42] <not_sure> Criminally negligent parents
[21:42] <FigNewton> And I killed one of the spiders, and I was about to hop up to get the chest and the other spider, and three owls all swooped in together
[21:43] <slayer_professional> I'd go with not sures

Fairly Oddparents, for me. Inspector Gadget is a close second, and gets a lot of points for nostalgia, but the fact that Fairly Oddparents is new and kicks that much ass gets it a lot of bonus points.

Also, isn't that weird what happened to me in Castlevania, though?

I really enjoyed early Rugrats before they started adding characters and making movies. Besides Bobby's World it is the only cartoon I've seen that came close to accurately portraying children's daydreaming. Plus the music was done by one of the guys in Devo.

I enjoyed Rugrats as a kid, although watching now...I don't know why. It still gets my vote though.

Blackout...you're absolutely right about Bobby's World...how did that get overlooked?

Just kidding, thought the Voltron fans here would like it.

I'm actually torn between it, FOP and Rugrats. I'll decide later.

EDIT: WHY DIDN'T NOBODY TELL ME THE VIDEO WAS FUCKED UP?

Rugrats! Loved that as a kid, although the animation still creeps me out to this day.

Pre-Dill Rugrats is as good is at least as good as Muppet Babies, and Muppet Babies is better than Fairly Odd Parents.

No way is Rugrats as good as Muppet Babies!

Muppet Babies used stock footage of stuff including Star Wars. Awesome stuff.

The Fairly Oddparents? What is this?

I have come to the conclusion that the majority of people playing this game were born after 1985. Otherwise these last few would have been landslides.

If you grew up in the early 80's then you would remember people getting the toys, watching the show, and being incredibly excited when you got the final piece so that you could join them all together. Or in my case, I got two pieces and my friend got 3. Parents didn't always understand that it was kinda a big deal to get 5.

Fairly Oddparents is an early 2000's nickelodeon cartoon, it was pretty funny. But fucking Voltron ruled, and I agree with your assessment of needing all 5, I will never do this to my son, he will get ALL of whatever fucking "build giant robot out of smaller robots" happens to be on the market....and a speedy replacement if he loses one of them.

The Fairly Oddparents had an awesome "side series" The Crimson chin and all the villians (Titanium Toenail,Iron Long,Bronze kneecap etc.) And the charcters are just so likeable....

But i was born in 1992, and rasied on the rugrats ever since. (Personally, I believe it went downhill during the first episode of All-grown up! series)

Wow, SpraCoalee, way to make me feel dated by comparison. Although I was born 11 years prior, I too voted for Rugrats. That Mark Mothersbaugh of Devo did the theme music alone, I think, was motivation, and the show was imaginative on top of that.

Who likes role-playing games? Me. Way too goddamn much.

Even though Voltron was a cut-up shell of its Japanese version, it was still an extremely ahead of its time show.

A kids cartoon with death (Sven), and continuity in it?

And.... A GIANT FUCKING ROBOT MADE OUT OF LION ROBOTS!

agreed w/knyte. ahead of its time. it showed blood when cartoons never showed any of that stuff.

voltron no doubt. rugrats was alright, but then just got annoying.

never saw much of fairly oddparents to care for it.

inspector gadget was actually good (unlike the horrible movies) and pretty funny. "i'll get you next time, GADGET" (i actually say that anytime i get pwned in an FPS or smash bros or mario kart or whatev)

I hate Inspector Gadget and also lament that Bobby's World missed out on the contest. I totally forgot about that show, and it was great.

Rugrats was ok, but I never got into it and Fairly Odd Parents looks interesting, but I've never seen it as it was a long way after my prime cartoon years.

So as a child of the 80s who did have all 5 die-cast lions, I gotta go with Voltron.

Or we could just not make judgments based on nostalgia from our youth which is often horribly skewed by this point and actually weigh these shows by their merits. I mean, I loved G.I. Joe and Transformers and Voltron and all those when I was a kid too, but looking at them now they're cheesy, full of animation and plot errors, and often outright silly. I'm not defending Fairly Oddparents here, I friggin' hate that show, but yes I think Rugrats was a better show than Voltron.

Oh well.
Does anyone know if it still airs anymore?

Nostalgia is a very legitimate and valid vote. Rugrats may be a better show, but Voltron had a much greater impact on my childhood, so it gets my vote. It's unfair to go back and watch it as an adult after your tastes have changed and base your vote purely on "quality" while completely discounting what a particular show meant to you as a kid. Shows like He-Man or Ninja Turtles defined an entire decade of pop culture. The same can't be said of Rugrats, even if it was technically "better".

I was going to say that (except the part about FoP, personal favorite). Just because a show is old doesn't mean it's better than one that's new.

That doesn't mean a vote not based on nostalgia is flawed.

I never said it was. I was just defending any votes based on nostalgia.
