I will be the first to admit that when I was younger, the opening credits and theme song for the TV show: Tales From the Crypt, scared the fuck out of me. Everytime it would come on, I'd run and hide like a little bitch.

On that note, as a kid I was also scared of tons of movies that would by today's standards be retarded, and dated.

Child's Play for instance, was one of those movies. Something about a killer doll, made me want to sleep with a night light and look under the bed before I'd go jump out of it.

Another movie that scared the hell out of me, was The Exorcist, and mostly because it actually happened, and in St. Louis nonetheless. The hospital that they took this kid too has since shut down the whole wing that it happened in. The house was auctioned off, and someone still to this day resides in it. The church that they took the kid too, is still around and it's actually located on a college campus. SLU, I believe it is. Eitherway, something about demonic possession still scares the shit out of me.

A Nightmare on Elm Street scared me into sleep deprivation, and for the obvious reasons.

And, for some reason......when I was like 4 or 5, I was afraid of Micheal Jackson's Thriller video. I remember being scared shitless of the scene when Mike turns into the Werewolf.

Eitherway, it's safe the say that I'm not afraid of movies anymore, or for horror period. I could even walk through a haunted house attraction by myself. To be honest, Halloween is my favorite holiday aside Thanksgiving (Food, Family and Dallas Cowboy's football).

There for awhile in the past year, the only thing I'd rent from movie stores, were scary movies. I'd like to say I'm quite the horror movie buff. Cool

Maniac Cop 3 was on HBO when I was on vacation with my family. Why this movie scared me was that we were staying in a very scary area of Chicago and that fucker would not die.

Also, there was this show that came on after Unsolved Mysteries (scary in it's own right), which wasn't on too long, but it did reenactments of crimes that happened. One of the stories was about this guy who held a hotel hostage with some sort of electrical cord and basically beat the shit out of anyone who fucked with him. When the cops confronted him, it took 7 BULLETS to bring him down all while he was walking towards them. I don't remember the name of the show, but the fact that it actually happened scared the fuck out of me. I went to an event with my parents and ended up needing to take a piss and walking down to an isolated bathroom and seeing someone who looked like the guy and I ran the fuck out of there immediately, piss be damned.

By the time I was 9 though, I was fearless.

^^ Pretty much everything involved in Unsolved Mysteries; The guy in the jacket , the theme song, re-enactments, and the fact that they seem to all happen near Illinois/Midwestern area.

Then I watched one at night... Shocked

The music on Unsolved Mysteries scared the shit out of me. Another show that was scary was Tales from the Darkside, especially the opening.

Young Sherlock Holmes. Dear God I literally had nightmares about that well into my twenties. (And in fact, it was only a couple months ago that I even found out that the "horror movie" that had terrified me so much as a child WAS Young Sherlock Holmes.)

That scene with the sacrifice...and then the one with the poison dart and the girl getting dragged down into the grave...brrrrrrrr.

If you really want to be scared, watch "Sherlock Holmes in the 22 Century", that'll really give you nightmares.

The Hitcher 1986.....Rutger Hauer scared the hell out of me in that movie. Also Pet Semetary, the scenes with the sister with spinal meningitis still freaks the shit out of me, to be honest a majority of the movie still does.

America's Most Wanted. I live in Maine and it didn't matter if the guy that was wanted was last seen in Texas heading west, it felt like he was already in my neighborhood.

I'm surprised you didn't mention any Stephen King movies, they all take place in Maine.

Not all of them do, but the majority yes.

A lot of X-Files episodes took place in Virginia, so even at the age of 13 I would get freaked out and think that the mutant with fire fingers or whatever was sure to come to my neighborhood.

There was a movie called "The Peanut Butter Solution." I haven't seen it since I was about 7 or 8, but I remember being freaked-out by it. This kid makes a potion that makes hair grow. Some weirdo/pederast locks him in a cage and makes magical paint brushes out of his hair.

This is one of those movies that you're not really sure it ever existed until you find other people that know what your talking about.

The 80s remake of the blob gave me nightmares for weeks when I was 5 or so.

Snow white and the seven dwarfs, the introduction to the queens transformation to the hag scared me alot as a kid.

Yet for some reason all the bad stuff in the Brave little toaster just phased through me.

I still have trouble watching that to this day. It really freaked me out as a kid, for weeks after watching it. When I would try to sleep I would see that bitch every time I closed my eyes. Other than that the only movies that actually scared me was The Exorcist & Carpenter's Prince of Darkness.

The episode of Dinosaurs where Baby Sinclair gets an infection and acts possessed like in The Exorcist comes to mind.

The 'Are You Afraid Of The Dark' episode 'The Tale of the 13th Floor'. That dude's huge head and the scene at the end with the TV, not to mention the entire claustrophobic feeling of the episode, scared me fucking shitless.

The intro to 'Are You afraid of the Dark' always freaked me out when I was a kid. I didn't watch many scary movies as a kid, except Friday the 13th which I found to be funny, but I watched it with my dad so it wasn't scary.

I was freaked the fuck out over being TOLD about a movie. Some babysitter slasher type thing that was also an Urban Legend I think. Some babysitter hear's there's a crazy axe murderer on the loose on the news, she sees an axe and/or figure of a man in the window and freaks out but she's ok, nothing happens to her. The parents get home and she tells them what she saw in the window and the parents tell her "That's not a window, it's a mirror." For the longest time I was scared shitless to go in my dark basement and I hated mirrors.

In hindsight it has a few flaws that would make it not so scary. How the fuck do you mistake a window for a mirror? Wouldn't she see anything else in the room the whole time the guy wasn't in the mirror? And if he's behind you, and in the story I think he killed the kids(I forget) how the hell would you not notice him come in and move in behind you? All the doors would be locked, he must have been an axe murdering ninja.

"IT" didn't scare me too much since I saw it when I was like 16, I liked it a lot. It was still all kinds of creepy when I saw it, the ending just about ruined it though.
