So who here likes Iced Earth? I think they're an awsome band and I want to know what you think. My favorite songs are;

1. The whole Gettysburg Trilogy (Glorious Burden)
2. Burnt Offerings (Burnt Offerings)
3. Dante's Inferno (Burnt Offerings)
4. Valley Forge (Glorious Burden)

Discuss.

I bought Iced Earth's "Alive in Athens" album, and even though it's supposed to be one of the greatest live metal albums ever, I just couldn't get into it. John Schaffer overuses the galloping riff, in my opinion, and the vocals aren't really my thing.

I like it just because the vocals are "Different". To me it sounds awsome. But, everyone has their opinion.

I'm a fan. "Dante's Inferno" ranks among the great metal epics, IMO

Barlowe is one of my favorite singers. You should check out Pyramaze's latest album "Immortal", on which he does lead vocals. Pyramaze is good stuff.

Thanks I'll check them out now. Smile

*EDIT*
Holy shit! They're awsome! Legacy In A Rhyme I thought was the best. But I'm still listening to more of it. Thanks for telling me about them.

I often get high and listen to the Gettysburg disc of the glorious burden. it's so overly epic it's ridiculous. I love it.

That album makes me shiver. I shiver when things are epic.

Yea that's a good song. Pyramaze is one of my favorite bands. If you like them, you should also check out their two previous albums "Meloncholy Beast" and "Legend of the Bone Carver." Both of those albums have a different singer, Lance King. He's got more of a falsetto voice than Barlow, and the albums are generally not quite as heavy as Immortal. I love them both though....especially Legend of the Bone Carver. Great stuff.

I haven't given a fuck about Iced Earth in along time. When you discover that John Schaffer's riffing style is non-stop triplets, the music loses it's ability to hold up.

That being said, back in the day I was all about Pure Evil and Travel In Stygian.

There are a lot of what if's in life Donny. What if I hit you really hard in the face, knocked yo shit to the back of yo skull? What if I....had you girl gargle my nuts? The fact remains, you are a fuckin mutant.

This.

They OK, but nothing special. Awesome artwork on the albums though.
