I just did it. There's a secret Hammer Brother sleeping under the rock. If you beat him, you get the silver whistle which warps you to a secret world when used. The world has 20 stages and is insanely hard. Once you get to the end of the world and defeat Super Bowser, you rescue the real princess who gives you a code to resurrect Aeries in Final Fantasy VII (It was all planned ahead long in advance between Square and Nintendo).

There was a time I believed things like this. Thank you internet for showing me the truth.

And supposedly that SMB3 whistle was only in the Japanese version. It was apparently a glitch.

I *know* what I'm going to ask is technically off-topic, but I don't want to clutter the index with new threads. Or something like that.

Anyways, I was wondering if someone got to try out New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Specifically, I'd like to know if it's at least *half* as good as the original SMB3.

I guess there's no kuribo shoe in it either, so things can only go downhill from there...

EDIT: SO THERE'S A NEW SUPER MARIO BROS, THREAD RIGHT THERE!

I'm sorry. I'm near sighted.

And stupid <3

It's too late now because you haven't been PAYING ATTENTION.

If you follow the steps provided in the topic, you'll unlock Luigi in SM64!

I had a friend play through SM64 three times before realizing that the Internet was lying to him.

I don't know how long I worked on trying to get the Cow Hat in Super Mario RPG, by jumping on the bed EXACTLY 100 times...I kept thinking I was miscounting.

I remember first getting on the internet in 98 following every lying cheat code there was for Pokemon. Trying to get Mew, Pikablu, Togapi... At least Missingno turned out to be true.

Shake it, Quake it, Space Kaboom.

There IS a way to get Mew, as well as every other Pokemon in the game without trading. Basically, Pokemon embedds a number that matches a special, so by using a glitch based on the special of the last Pokemon you fight, you're able to find a wild Pokemon that matches that Special. Sound confusing? It kinda is, but here's a video:

The gambler works too...but this is quicker...I don't even do the same strategy since all you really need is a fuckload of Poke balls...I've caught every Pokemon, the only pain in the ass is the number for the starting 3 Pokemon match a very high Special, so you have to catch a Pokemon and raise it to a high enough Special, THEN fight a Ditto, allowing it to transform into your Pokemon and match the Special, then go get the Pokemon you want. This works easier on the Red version, since most Blue pokemon match a low Special.

My favorite secret has to be World 3, where you use the hammer and then get on that little boat and row to those 5 Toad Houses...fucking awesome.

...Yeah...Unless you end up getting five bullshit Mushrooms (The 'Slot Machine' games don't count, because I usually have 99 lives by then)...

Was I supposed to put something here?

It's 2 slot games and 3 items

And good for you with your 99 lives, I don't exploit glitches and don't go on collectathons...so I'd probably be sitting at 30 lives or so...tacking on a possible 10 more is always nice. It's also a nice screw you if you're playing against someone else.

...Oh yeah. Well, 3 bullshit Mushrooms.

'Collectathons?' In Mario 3? Never heard of it. The only things I'd go out of my way to collect are P-Wings and Hammer Bros. suits--I only use the P-Wing for one stage in Sky Land, and the Hammer Bros. Suit never gets used. So yeah.

...And the 1-Up Trick where you keep hitting enemies without hitting the ground is a glitch?

Wow...

I never knew that Mew trick, eventually I used a Gameshark to get him.

Trick, glitch...whatever.

I try to get through a level as fast as possible, I don't need to bother with getting 99 lives right away, especially in a game like Super Mario Bros. 3.

...There also isn't a need to look high and low for Hammers to break rocks to find secret areas, especially in a game like Super Mario Bros. 3, but people do it anyway. It's called 'fun...'

I don't even 'get through levels as fast as possible' in Sonic games, but...whatever. Different strokes for different Gamers, I guess...

I don't seek out hammers, remember you sometimes are provoked into fighting the fucking Hammer Bros. so since I have the damn hammer from the fight, I might as well use it on the block down there...I'm just saying.

And yes, different strokes for different Gamers.

Yeah, I didn't either. I saw it online one day, and I went out the next day to buy a Gameboy and Pokemon Blue. I couldn't believe I got rid of it to begin with, but that was around the time where the card game and TV show made liking Pokemon totally gay.
