I never thought about it before, but I KNEW it seemed familiar.
I found the one that's in my sig, and since I'm a HUGE fan of the movie Blue Velvet and the fact that absolutely no one else ever talks about it or promotes it, I decided to.

C'mon guys, gasoline fights? That's one of the funniest parts of that movie.

Am I the only person who thinks Ben Stiller is insanely annoying? Don't get me wrong, I like some of his movies, but his schtick gets pretty old to me.

There are only a handful of movies I like him in. Most of them I actually feel are his fault why I don't like them. I love him in Dodge Ball, There's Something About Mary and Zoolander, other than that he's really meh to me.

I hate him too, along with Will Farrell, Jack Black, Vince Vaughn, Steve Carell, and all the other douche bag comedian actors these days.

Usually, when he has creative control over his movies, they're pretty good. What I like him in;
Reality Bites
Heavyweights*
Flirting With Disaster
Happy Gilmore*
The Cable Guy*
There's Something About Mary
Meet the Parents
Zoolander
Tropic Thunder
*wasn't the focal point of the movie, but added a lot to it
Everything else I've seen him in...usually SUCKED. The fact that he's only made one good movie since Zoolander shows you how Hollywood can turn you into a royal whore. I especially like his earlier serious comedies...."Reality Bites" hits close to home.

I can only hope to GOD that Ferrell has hit his stride and is Chevy Chasin'. The man first helped ruin SNL for me, then went on to play the same 2 characters in every single movie he's ever been in. Some people point to his "serious" work in "Stranger Than Fiction" but that didn't even strike me as good. He's easily one of the best examples of what is wrong with comedy today and seems to do ANYTHING to warrant a laugh. That isn't comedy, it's prostitution.
I honestly don't get the love for Steve Carrell either. He only made me laugh when he was on The Daily Show, maybe it's the fact that I'm not a big fan of Judd Apatow's movies or The Office.
Jack Black...goddammit...you're a supporting actor...that's all you'll ever be. You're not a serious actor either, so quit fucking trying. Stick to movies like "High Fidelity" or "Saving Silverman".
Vince Vaughn...eh...I'm not going to even bother. He's definately hit or miss...but ok in small doses.

I'm a big Wes Anderson fan, as well as a Gene Hackman fan...and I share your sentiments. The movie wasn't terrible, but it was such a departure from his earlier 2 movies, that it just seemed depressing. And yes, I didn't like Stiller in it, even though I went to see the movie BECAUSE of him.
See "Blue Velvet". It's not an exciting movie early on, but as soon as Dennis Hopper appears, it picks up BIG TIME. He's quite possibly one of the best movie villians ever.

haha, I pretty much agree with every single post.. er.. post mine. Except the Royal Tananbaums I did enjoy, but do agree Bottle Rocket and Rushmore were much better...
Dod, you pretty much pointed it out... I think I enjoy his writing much more than his "Characters"

I think at this point Stiller is better when he's doing everything except acting. He was really the one guy dragging down Tropic Thunder, though ti was still great despite him.

Really? If anyone dragged that movie down, it was Black...my God did he ruin every scene he was in. Of course, comparing anyone to Downey, is like comparing wiping your ass with Charmin compared to wiping your ass with a pine cone.

Good god, Zoolander was a great movie, I have to get it somehow!
On the topic of movies, not specifically comedies, I'm usually satisfied during the run of the movie, but it is not RIGHT after it ends that I decide if it sucked or was great.
SAW VI I got entertained during it but ultimately thought that sucked. Tropic Thunder was great, but something didn't click. I don't think it was any particular actor. Highlights were Downey, especially in the DVD's extra stuff ("I don't leave the character until the extras are filmed!"), and Tom Cruise.
Whatever wrong he has done to this day has been forgiven with the role in this movie.
