You know who else was a supposed "perfectionist"?

Michael Cimino

He made one of the absolute most acclaimed movies in "The Deer Hunter" and followed it up with "Heaven's Gate".

I'm not necessarily calling Cameron a has been, but there's SO much negative press over this movie right now, it'll be almost impossible to change things.

They said the same things about titanic you know.

I'm pretty sure the Titanic backlash happened AFTER the movie came out, by that point there was no stopping that machine.

Think along the lines of "Gili". There is no way on God's grey Earth that movie could be saved, even if it was a good movie, there was so much shit going on during the PRODUCTION that it caused it to lose all momentum altogether.

First it's gigli, second before titanic come out papers everywhere were counting down the days till it came out and anticipating a bomb due to it running over budget and off schedule. Cameron knows what he is doing, and he has been planning this for a long, long time.

Gili...Gigli...whatever...it sucked nonetheless

They might've aniticipated Titanic to be a bomb, but the hype machine was already rolling. It's not like Ishtar, where they were dismissing it before it was even had an attraction.
