In SMB1, the extra life display fucks up when you get past 9. Crown-Block is the equivalent of 99 lives.
More specifically Crown-Lower-Right-Corner-Of-A-Used-Block = 99

What was interesting about that block is after you die about 15 or so times, it turns white and changes sizes and such...
