You know, I realized that a huge portion of the General Discussion threads are news stories and the like.
Why not have a "Currenty Events" section, to help clear some of the clout of the GD catergory, and leave it for more generalized things, like sites news, forum member's anouncements, etc?

Once there's a food forum, we can talk about the current events forum.

THE FOOD FORUM MILTIA WILL RISE AGAIN¡¡¡¡¡
But if we made a new current events section the general forum would lose much of it's disscussion. It would be full of games and a "certain moderator" doesn't like forum games

If you want to suggest a forum, something you REALLY think deserves to exist, PM a mod and we will discuss it amongst ourselves. If you don't hear back and don't see the forum, we decided no. These threads crop up all too often and they're not really discussion matters for everyone else, so just let us know if you have a suggestion and we'll handle it. If anyone PM's me and suggests a food forum, I will come to your house and fuck you in the ass with a chainsaw.

Current events is a reasonable suggestion, but it would kinda kill General. Honestly, current events are sort of the glue that hold the General forum together. But I have mulled one in the past.
As for the goddam Food Forum, it's not happening. We are already several forums - Music, Television, Toys - that don't get anywhere nearly as much love as they should. Until they do, I cannot possibly justify a food forum.

A food forum would die quickly, as once you said your opinions on food, there is really nothing more to ad to the subject.
Current Events is a constant, changing subject, that will have new topics every day.
And, General Discussion would still be full of news regarding Forum Members, Birthday wished, introductions, site anouncements, and "THIS SHIT MAKES ME REALLY FUCKING HAPPY/SAD/HORNY ETC." Topics.

the main reason is that it doesn't have a place in pop culture but that's not true. There were many food related things back in the 80's. Cereals, TV dinners, plates, lunchboxes, and snacks. Of course there are others but I didn't want that list to long. There is also the fact that food and the food industry changes constantly.
and about the arguements that after we get favorite foods, least favorite foods, and recipies threads made it will lose all activity. I highly doubt this because with different brands of certain foods causing debate and with new fast food joints coming out with new foods I feel that it will receive more traffic than the sports and reading forums combined
And it will increase the sites overall success
this may or may not have been an edited PM

yes you could justify one. and the music forum gets a lot of love
So what if we have one more forum? if it dies quickly then oh well. it can hurt the site. and if it goes a month without any posts then delete it. and you kow what? ill moderate the thing by myself or with sideway drvier if he wants

This site is about all things pop culture. How can it be if we exclude Food

Hacker, did it sound like this topic was up for discussion? I read Syd's comment as "SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THE FOOD FORUM OR I WILL HURT YOUR DIGITAL PERSONA!" I apologize for the caps, but perhaps you only speak the language of forum idiots.
I have an emoticon request. Instead of Gordon Freeman swinging at the head crab, can we have him swinging at Hacker?
As for the news being entered into the General forum section... I have mixed feelings about this subject. On the one hand, it would be nice to segregate the breaking news, but on the other hand, it isn't enough that it really needs its own section. I personally think that a section for forum games would cut down on bulk in general more than the news one since the games always seem to bump up the chain.

Harsh and assholish response to a fairly harmless question/debate there.... even if he has ground the topic into the ground, it seems unnecessary... unless I am missing something here..

I always aim to hurt his digital persona... need be I could post up a fail party for hacker
For the current events forum, I think it would make the forums "cleaner" but it would mostly kill the General Discussion, and that's bad from what I've checked...

Out of curiosity, my post in this thread excluded, when was the last time I said something negative to or about Hacker?

No, it's justified and I fully back up GP on this one. Hacker is an annoying blight on these forums, and what GP was responding to was his incessant need to debate a topic that isn't up for debate anymore. When the admin of the site and his brother both say "No food forum, ever" in the same thread, and you continue to debate it, that just makes you an idiot and deserving of a few flames.
I find the topic of food to be rather boring and not enough to carry an entire forum. "Hey, remember Count Chocula?"
"Yeah, that was awesome."
"Dude, totally."

Without current events integrated into General, there will be three threads left:
1. Attention Lurkers
2. This shit pisses me off
3. This shit makes me happy
The only other threads it will attract will be:
1. Yay it's a holiday
2. Yay it's someone's birthday (if anyone remembers/checks the list)
3. The survey/game threads that you guys already know the mods don't like
General, by its very nature, should be one of the most popular forums. And it is. But if we give a take what is currently its heart and soul and move it elsewhere, we'll turn General into something that I personally wouldn't want to read.

You PMed me and asked me for a definitive answer as to why not. You said you'd shut up about it once I gave you one. I gave you one. And yet, you're still arguing with me. SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Also we made an off site food forum during the food wars, and guess what? It got boring after about a month and no one posted.

"Food wars?" I'm not going to ask. I don't want to know.
I actually initially thought that the News section was a pretty good idea too, but after hearing Syd's points against it, I'm going to agree that its basically unnecessary.
Also, GP is not being overly harsh at all. For God's sake, I'm actually PRO food forum, but when the mods, and especially when Syd say a definitive NO, and ask you to drop the subject, that means NO, and drop the frigging subject. Harping on the issue will do nothing but spend what little goodwill you've accrued by behaving yourself (pretty much) recently. This is not a smart decision on your part. Let it go.
