I would probably feel like it was getting somewhere, but somehow not here nor there. Also, I would feel like helping to search for missing kids.

Thou, because I am wroth, be not dismayed, for I shall win the strife, whoever circle round within for the defence. This their insolence is not new, for of old they used it at a less secret gate, which still is found without a bolt. Above it thou didst see the dead inscription; and already on this side of it
descends the steep, passing without escort through the circles,
One such that by him the city shall be opened to us. |

SHe just walked the sobriety walking test.. OF DEATH!!!
(I'm also down with the spike'd bumpers of the subway trains, why not turn the deaths of drunken-dumbshits into beautiful works of art!!)

We have a lightrail system here in Oregon called the MAX Line. It kills about 2-3 people a year. Which is unbelievable because: 1. It on rails, and can't swerve to hit you. 2. The places where it hits people are usually the places where the tram is only going 10-20 MPH.
Most of my friends agree, if you are an adult and get run over by the Max, then you deserve it. |
Why don't they put a cow-catcher on the front of it? Problem solved. |
I'm gonna have to go the opposite way with you on that. I think they should put a grill of spikes on the front of the train. At least it'd make the body easier to recover. |
True, but it would decrease the fuel efficiency of the train having to lug all those bodies. Most of them are probably fat people, too. |
How does that make sense? |
Because fat people are slower. All things being equal, I'd have to assume that fat people get hit by trains more often.

Just curious, how often do people get hit by trains? I would think this wouldn't be a big problem...

You would think that, wouldn't you? But apparently it happens often enough. Unless you're deaf and blind, I find it hard to believe you couldn't sense a train bearing down on you.

I got my Master's at the U of Delaware between 2004 and 2006. In those 2 years, I heard of SIX people getting hit by a train that rolls by on the outskirts of town. 4 of them died. Usually they would get hit because they would go drink at the frat houses, decide to go home via the train tracks, pass out, and get made into one of those novelty pennies you see at rest stops.
One of the kids that got hit and didn't die was my student. He was just dumb and walked too close to the track. The train had an extension that went out about 3 feet and clipped his leg and snapped it. Needless to say, he missed class for a while.

Ha, my GF went to Delaware (graduated '06). We were just down there a couple of weeks ago for homecoming. We were going to the Deer Park Tavern, and we walked over some train tracks on the way. She says "these are the train tracks where everyone dies."

Even if you wear death and blind you'd still sense it bearing down unless you were numb as well. Something that big moving that fast is a pretty noticeable sensation.

I agree. A train moving at a good speed is like a fucking hurricane or a tornado coming at you.

That's the exact spot that I'm talking about. In '04, just out back of Deer Park, a girl wandered out there and pass out on the tracks. They found what was left of her the following morning at several points up and down the train tracks. She got piss drunk at a frat or house party, passed out on the track and got hit SEVERAL times. That's the spot though... just behind Deer Park and about a mile in either direction.

I was there when the girl got hit by the train. In fact, I took a picture of it.

The only people around here that have been hit by trains were either A) drunk or B) committed suicide. Didn't you say you didn't like fat people? Sounds to me like your irrational hatred is clouding your judgement.
You're also assuming that fat people fall in front of trains more often(in subway cases) and that they wander near train tracks more frequently than people who are not overweight. Didn't you say you didn't like fat people? Sounds to me like your irrational hatred is clouding your judgement.
Aren't you the one who also said drunk driving penalties are too stiff? I find it funny you blame fat people and defend people who drink and drive who(drunks) tend to be the ones getting hit by trains.

Wow.....someone is letting a half-hearted joke bother him a little too much.

I just don't like people making ignorant statements like that. Especially people like you who think drinking and driving penalties should be lighter.
I thought you'd be defending her, she could have been a friend of yours or your mom...wait if she were she'd probably have been driving.
I love jokes, I just don't see how that's funny. Maybe I just didn't "get" the "joke".

People like me, huh? And you're going to insult my mom as well?
Ah, the internet. Gotta love it.
