That's got to be the biggest pile of bullshit ever.
So what if they all say it in unison? The worst that could happen is that they lose 5 minutes of class.
School principals are on the biggest power trips these days

*shrug* as a teacher, I can sort of understand this lol. That would get really old really quick, and if it was as disruptive as the school officials seem to be claiming, I get their issue with it. Its not like they're trying to ban the word or anything.
Still, it is a bit heavy-handed.

I don't care if you're saying Meep, Ping, or Ni-Woom. If you're disrupting classes, then there's a problem.

I think if I was a student there, I would protest by making and wearing a shirt with this on it:

I have an idea, when the clock strikes 08:35 we should all stand up on our desks, drop our pants, and shout KISS MY ASS!

That article is a bit biased they aren't banning a word they are banning a disruption. Now suspension may be a bit much but still.

Ya, I was under the impression that the word was being banned before I read it. It's not different than any other school wide prank. They don't care about the meep they care about the disruption and yelling "meep" is just there way to disrupt the class.
It would be pretty funny if they were being suspended for using the word meep.

This may be overboard but why suspend when you could mandate community service. I never really understood suspension, at best you are giving a kid what he wants anyway, at worst you are putting a kid on the street that may or may not ever return to school. Way to heavy handed by far seriously a fucking "Meep" is all it takes nowadays? Legalize pot now because this people need to chill the fuck out.

if a parent finds out that their kid is temporarily suspended and doesn't beat the shit out of them, they're bad parents.
when I was a kid, I didn't look at suspension as "oh cool I get what I want." I looked at it as "oh shit, my parents are gonna find out I got suspended!"

That's how it should be, but anymore laws prevent parents from parenting it'd all legal bullshit and politics, and some parents could care less about anything they're kids do, that's half the problem right there.

This pretty much. The idiot kids were suspended for planning a mass disruption and disturbing the peace during school hours. It's not about the word at all. The same thing would have happened if they all planned to repeatedly slam their lockers over and over.
And let's face it, when it comes to young teenagers, they don't know when enough is enough, so it wouldn't have been a 5 minute deal. As soon as they noticed that they could get away with it, or that the school would tolerate a unified, "meep!", it would have lasted all day and completely disrupted the school. I fully support the school's actions, and makes me think twice about sending my son to public school if those are the kinds of Facebook morons he'll be interacting with.

I dare anyone to convince me to ever get into being a teacher...no amount of money is worth the headache of dealing with these fuckers each day.

As someone who is currently in high school, I'll say this:
I honestly have no clue what the fuck "meep" is or what it means.
Also, I agree with Berserk, put their asses to work instead of having them sit at home doing nothing.

It just sounds like "internet meme du jour." It'll be something new next week.
And I agree with you Dodds about teaching. Not only do you have to deal with annoying kids who'd rather push buttons on their cell phones rather than get a real education, most teachers' wages aren't far above the poverty line.

I really wish our tax dollars didn't pay for education, since I'd say at least 50% of the people there DO NOT care, and will most likely pass with a 2.0. Maybe if their parents are paying more, then they'd be less likely to fuck up. Or at least a system that rewards those who do well.
I'll admit, I didn't give a shit in high school, but once I was in college, I stopped fucking around and took things seriously...because I was paying out the ass for it.

See, I don't think I could be a teacher either. Most likely, if these kids started doing that in my class I would start cussing and hissing and scratching and punching and would be kicked off campus, never to be allowed to teach again.
