Yeah I know tomorrow is Veteran's Day and we'll probably have a thread about that too, but since I know we have at least one Marine on the forum (and possibly a couple others), this thread just had to be made.
All the branches of the military celebrate the day of their founding, but NO ONE celebrates it like the Marine Corps. Its a huge event, with a big formal ball and lots of camaraderie and goodwill. So this is for Ash Burton, and all the Marines past, present and future (including my father!):
Ooorah for Tun Tavern!
Oh yeah, and I almost forgot:

Thank's Hawk! Happy Veterans day to you as well. Time to get pissed drunk and start a fight! Whoa, and I've been on this site for a year now too!
On November 10, 1775, the Continental Congress commissioned Samuel Nicholas to raise two Battalions of Marines. That very day, Nicholas set up shop in Tun Tavern. He appointed Robert Mullan, then the proprietor of the tavern, to the job of chief Marine Recruiter -- serving, of course, from his place of business at Tun Tavern. Prospective recruits flocked to the tavern, lured by (1) cold beer and (2) the opportunity to serve in the new Corps of Marines. So, yes, the U.S. Marine Corps was indeed born in Tun Tavern. Needless to say, both the Marine Corps and the tavern thrived during this new relationship.

I train Jiu Jitsu with a couple of marines.....they're both tough SOB's. I'd hate to have a whole platoon of those guys coming after me

"Veteran's Day" is the day we honor our war veterans. Simple enough.
