Responsibility lies more with the parents than the makers of COD

Airports, hospitals, McDonald's Playland, I don't care where it's taking place. If I'm having a good time, they will die.

You don't even have to play through that level. You're told before you start playing that some levels may be offensive and gives the option to skip over them.

I liked how they wussed out at the last second by allowing you to skip. The game industry needs to grow up. This goes for the "concerned parents" as well. the worl isn't a happy place, but I think they don't believe that.

I'm kind of troubled by this. Being an avid FPS player since we got a copy of Doom 2 with our first PC, I get angered when games where you fight demons with plasma rifles are called "murder simulators"... but... this game literally has a murder simulator level. You play a man with a gun shooting civilians in a game that prides itself upon its realistic depictions of warfare. It is a murder simulator, which leaves the discussion of defending it to one point... context.

Why did the developers put the level in the game/what is the level's purpose? Did they really think of a legitimate, though-provoking reason, or did they just throw it in there because it's cool? I could support it as a tool for understanding your enemy, but portraying them as a bunch of men in fashionable suits and watches murdering people for fun instead of fighting for a deep belief, graying the area between the good, lovable allies, and despicable, hairy terrorists would not be something I'd support.

Then there's how it will be received by gamers. You know there's going to be the little cretin that finds the level to be awesome, playing it over and over again, maybe a young kid who insists on showing his parents the level, which makes all intent moot. Still, It's supposed to arrive at my door tomorrow, so we'll see if the developers were mature enough.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind.

I worked the preorder of this tonight at gamestop. It was madness!

ironically enough, we have to tell every parent with a kid that the game is M rated, and they always say "I know, lemme get it anyway." so if a parent complains about it, they're usually full of shit.

It was hilarious though, when we stole all the preorder shirts and were wearing them when we told people that we didn't have any more. I also got four cases of those monster hitman shots out of the night because nobody else wanted them.

Meh. In King of the Monsters you could level an entire city, and no one gave a shit.

Smoke blew up the world in MK3 as well, yet most of the controversy was around the blood.

Can you imagine how stupid it would be if you popped in your blu-ray copy of Saving Private Ryan, and right before you get to D-Day invasion scene, the movie paused and warned you that the next scene is disturbing and asked if you wanted to skip over it?

An R-Rated film that made a shocking and horrifying scene to make an emotional point to the viewer.

Now, you have a M-Rated game that made a shocking and horrifying scene to make an emotional point to the player.

But, as long as there is the stigma of Videogames being "Childish" things, this bullshit will continue to happen.

another fun day at gamestop today with COD4MW2:Turbo.

"You know this game is M rated, right?"
"Yeah whatever my kid plays Grand Theft Auto."
"Can you massacre an airport full of innocents in Grand Theft Auto?"
"What?"
"That'll be 64.87... aaaannnd here's your murder simulator. Have a wonderful night!"

Well, I have to say it fit in well with the story, and they did handle it in a mature manner.

If anyone's up for some multiplayer, my 360 tag is Pennsylvanian. I'll probably be on a good amount in the evening this week.
