When I was stationed in WA, there was a shooting at Ft. Lewis and while I was in Iraq, there was that guy who shot up the hospital there, killing 5 people. On top of that, there were 3 suicides that I knew of there too. I respect what the Army does and all but sometimes they seem to really drop the ball when it comes to taking care of their own. A lot of the soldiers I've talked to have mentioned this as well. Hopefully things on top will change soon.

I'm not trying to be PC, phantasmzombie, I'm trying to be a realist. Look up the facts and don't bring your idiotic sensationalism to this forum. So a guy who has a muslim name shoots people on a military base and it's terrorism. A thug on the streets of Oakland with a muslim name shoots people at a police station...is that terrorism too? Get over yourself.

^^ The last two posts are spot on.
This guy was obviously in a bad state of mind and I think finding out he was being deployed pushed him over the edge. The problem with someone cracking in the military is that they have guns. If someone working at a car wash cracks, whats he gonna do, squirt everyone with a hose? Someone cracks on a military base and bad things happen.

I know I haven't been on these forums very long, but damn phantasmzombie; you sound like a dick. I was thinking of trying to read the teachings of Islam, but I didn't think people in America were still so afraid of it. It saddens me. This case at Hood also saddens me. Lets not look at motives right now, but rather the tragedy.

Lol, you are right sir. Many people fear what they do not know. Most people only know Islam as they see it delivered from their television sets. This was a bad man, a scared one at that. Much like the Marine who climbed the tower in Texas way back and sniped a bunch of people there may be something more to this story. He wasn't a muslim extremist, just a muslim who was scared to go to war.
Either way it is a freaking tragedy that those families have to endure and my heart goes out to them, all of my sick jokes aside. This reminds me of a movie I watched recently, In the Valley of Elah, pretty much sums it up as to how we are just a fucked up society with no rhyme or reason behind it.

Danse, please don't let my idiotic sensationalism discourage you from reading the teachings of Islam. Just don't gun a bunch of people down while screaming "Allahu Akbar!" at the top of your lungs like that guy did yesterday.
Contrary to what josh says, I do know the facts, I've followed this story very closely. The guy planned this. He gave away all of his possessions before the shooting. He didn't agree with the two wars over seas. He deliberately targeted U.S. soldiers for an ideological goal. Can anyone here dispute that? Now why is anyone still trying to argue that this wasn't terrorism?

Save your dissection of the "facts" for when the whole story actually comes out or you are going to end up embarrassing yourself.

Look, everyone, please do not take Phantasmzombie serious. He is a hard lined conservative who loves Glenn Beck, America and conspiracy theories where rich white men are victimized. It is just better to scroll past his posts if you don't want to reach for the Excedrin.

This is a thread about a tragedy. I didn't make this for me to spout my ideas and I certainly didn't make it for you to be offensive. Fag is an awful ugly word and it makes you look extremely immature buddy.

You didn't make this thread to spout off your ideas? Do you remember saying this.
| joshwoodzell wrote: |
Yeah, they are trying to blame the whole thing on terrorism, calling the shooter a "Terrorist".
People go crazy. People who see crazy shit go crazy. It happens.
And to the people who automatically assume terrorism and make fun of or call out every foreign sounding name, "Hey shit head's, your "terrorist" had no trouble joining your "army". Go die."
This may very well be a completely domestic problem that has nothing to do with terrorism. A lot of people refuse to believe problems like this originate right here. This shit is awful and it saddens me, but is most likely as American as apple pie. |
You said that before anyone said anything about terrorism. So you definitely had some point you wanted to get across when you started the thread.
I was called names and insulted because I was saying cold hard facts that no one wanted to hear. Ash dug up some ancient post of mine and I am the one who is immature? I'll be the bad guy in your story I don't care. I'm done with this thread. At this point everything I say now is just beating a dead horse.

All I spouted out was my opinion man, you were just downright hateful. You pretty much ruined the thread and I'm more worried about the family's of the victims anyways to give a shit about what you say.

Well it is unless you are talking about bikers (south park)
Really though people should wait until all the facts are in until coming to a conclusion and lets face it....that will take years and the news isn't the most reliable source anymore. It is understandable to be reactionary considering 9/11, The wars etc, personally I think this guy is more of a Charles Whitman type of mass murderer. It would make us all feel better in a sense to think these type of crimes have some kind of understandable explanation (Terrorist ties etc), but the reality is people snap and do crazy and murderous shit all the time without any rational reason (This reminds me too much of Columbine in it's senselessness).
Terrorists tend to opt for explosive devices in scenarios like this for massive blast damage, not small arms fire (remember there was a graduation taking place) which leads me to believe that he was just another headcase. I am interested however if he was possibly influenced by online propaganda, but even if that is the case, he was still an individual not part of any cell or organization..time will tell especially after the HD scans.

This has nothing to do with terrorists at all. In fact if we did point fingers, it is the ame reason why Michael Jackson died, and the reason why Anna Nicole Smith died. Drugs.
It was a Physiatrist, who is a drugs specialist, So I pit all the blame on this bastard.
Sigmund Freud father of psychology
Thanks to him people are locked up, and labeled insane. Military people have been labeled disabled. More importantly, social workers are born from his maddness.
People who otherwise be normal have, been told to get special medicine.
When he was writing the book of psychology he was high on the...
There is nothing funny about this. I say we charge into the halls of psychology and crucify a lot of them. Sitting on the arses, telling people how to live there lives.

My does it feel like there's more nutjobs and spammers around them usual?
The whole fucking terrorist issue just makes me hot and tired. So allow me to spout about it:
People get really unstable sometimes. For some people being unstable means killing things.
Islamic people are just fucking normal people. The majority of them are not extremists and do not force their religion on other people (Like some prominent groups in America.) Take for example, a guy that starts shoot people while telling them Jesus loves them, like happened recently in my area, is that guy a terrorist? Nope, he's a baptist who went insane. But if a Muslim is doing it it immediately is a terrorist.
What evens defines terrorism? The extremists that do blow themselves up (Notice random army base shootings is not their style) do it because they think they are doing it for the greater good of their religion. They don't decide one day that it would be fun to go "Kill some whities." Is that any really worse than enslaving an area's natives to "teach them the word of god?" Both parties believe what they are doing will benefit everybody.

http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/fort-hood-hero-sgt-kimberly-munleys-asked-died/story?id=9022438
| Quote: |
After Sgt. Kimberly Munley stopped the Fort Hood massacre by shooting Major Nidal Malik Hasan several times, she collapsed from her wounds and doctors who treated her were afraid she wouldn't survive.
"She was fading in and out of consciousness. She wasn't saying much," medic Francisco de la Serna, who began treating Munley when the shooting stopped, told ABC News.
Munley, a 34-year-old former soldier who became a civilian cop on the Fort Hood base, was shot twice in both legs during Thursday's confrontation. Two powerful "cop killer" rounds allegedly fired by Hasan tore through her left thigh, exited and blasted through her right thigh as well. She was also struck in the wrist.
Munley, the mother of two girls, was sped to Metroplex Hospital several miles away where doctors say she lost so much blood that they feared she would not make it. Munley proved to be as tough in the operating room as she was while confronting Hasan in their close-range shootout.
Dr. Kelly Matlock, who treated Munley at the Metroplex Hospital, said her first words in recovery were concern about Hasan's victims.
"She opened her eyes and said, 'Did anybody die?' That's what she said, 'Did anybody die?'" Matlock said. |
