Time to ask the experts again!
I finally sat down and hammered out all the Club Nintendo cards I had laying around with the goal to redeem the coins (stars here in the UK) for a VC points card. My dilemma though is which game should I get?
Basically my question is what game is the best value for the points on the VC? What isn't just as easily played on an emulator that needs to be played on the VC instead?
Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I'd say the N64 ones are the only truly worthwhile ones, unless you still have a working N64. Even if you do, Sin & Punishment is worth getting, if it's out in the UK.

Less popular SNES games I would say, most SNES emulators for anything outside of the PC I've played mostly only have decent compatibility with more popular games like Super Mario World, Zelda, Metroid, etc. Meanwhile, my SNES emu on PSP runs Kirby Super Star so slow I could make two grilled cheese sandwiches before I could complete the first world in Spring Breeze. Don't get me started on the ones for DS either, and ZSNES can't even boot Battletoads and Double Dragon for some unknown reason.

The real Super Mario Bros 2 is a good value if you don't have the All-Stars version. I think the original is better though.

Most Neo-Geo games are a good deal, especially Metal Slug.

If you have 4 friends, Bomberman '93 has five player support, which is pretty cool.

You can buy Neo Geo collection for ten bucks used and get Metal slug and the most of the games on the VC

Do WiiWare games qualify? Because My Life as a King and Rockman 9 are pretty swell.

I would say the N64 games are the flawed ones, especially since the sound doesn't always sync up with the sound, and there's that weird N screen that pops in and out when you press the Wii menu button.

Anything qualifies as long as it's a good value for money. I don't want o grab a game that I'll regret buying, or can just as easily play for free on an emulator.
Also, is it worth investing in the classic controller, or does the wii remote work good enough?

You NEED the classic controller for some games, SNES, N64, etc.

But a gamecube controller can work in some occasions. Just look at the usable controllers tab on the purchase page of the game you want.

This is very true. So when you think about it, the best value games for VC are the NES games, since they don't require you to buy anything else.
Actually some N64 games are manageable with a Gamecube controller.

Well, Rydog's statement is entirely true for SNES games. Trust me, most of them are horrid on the Gamecube Controller, especially Super Mario World.

Agreed sir... I can't handle Sim City with a GC controller

Yeah, that's a very good point and why I asked in the first place. I don't really fancy spending the equivalent of $20 on a controller just to have the priviledge of playing games that I have to spend a further $10+ to get. It's not really worth it to me right now.
And if I don't get a controller, I'm stuck pretty much only playing NES games on the VC, which I can do for free on an emulator.
