Is anyone else getting this game aside from me?
Sure, I was pissed off by the last L4D content update, but after watching the trailer and gameplay leak, I decided that I wanted it so I pre-ordered it and I'm getting the Demo tomorrow....

I think that this might be one of the top selling non-mmo games of all time. They are pushing a 25 million dollar advertising campaign on top of all the people who are already obsessed with the first one.

For me though, I'm not interested.

Why not? Just because Value is throwing money on this doesn't mean it's bad. I've enjoyed the new content I've seen so far.

I didn't really like the first one. Cool graphics I guess, and "OMG zombies" but it got old to me about 25 minutes in. Plus, not having working light switches in a FPS in the 21st century is fucking retarded.

You were Left 4 Dead.

You survived.

You swore that it would never happen again.

Guess what?

IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN.

Left 4 Dead 2. Rated M for Mature.

Metallica should have done the theme song for this game. I want to here Hetfield scream "Now you're Left 4 Dead Twooooooooooooo!"

That would have been epic

Woodzy, did you play the Versus mode at all?

they did that on purpose. listen to the developer's commentary.

that's what I like about the game. everything was painstakingly tested, planned, and plotted.

Yea, fuck PST.

As much as I hate NYC, NYC is the fucking center of the universe. So it's EST or GTFO.

The ability to hit Zombies with a freaking frying pan is enough to warrant a try from me Very Happy

still, the best Left 4 Dead thing I've ever seen will always be the Johnny Bravo tank skin. Forget Valve, modders make awesome addons Very Happy

I think that's what draws most of their players and fanbase, is that everything is mod-able.

The Left 4 Dead thing seems to be alot based off the ZS games on Gmod. I have played a wee bit of L4D but i enjoy ZS games on Gmod. Well the older games at least with barrel factory, hilarious level.

Well I've played the demo and I must say I'm impressed. So far the only two levels available are the two levels from The Parish.

Weapons:
You start off with the basic choice from the shotty or the SMG, and the Pistol, but you get another choice. By sacraficing your pistol, you can pick up the frying pan. Ignoring this, I chose the pistol and continued the level. That's right, your lose your pistol in favor for a powerful Melee weapon. I eventually relenquished and grabbed a guitar and started bashing zombie heads in. The most satisfying thing you can do with a guitar (aside from playing it) Around the middle/end of the first part I ran into a womens bathroom and discovered a Silenced SMG... I can't explain it any better then: It felt right.

Level:
Like I said only two parts of the Parish are available. But instead of a dark city at night... It's New Orleans during the day. You can still see Mardi Gras decorations on the buildings. Detail is nice but it feels more... Clausterphobic. That is until you find there are multiple buidlings you can run through and different effects. For example: entering a bar, there is a jukebox in the corner. Behind it was a hunter, ready to pounce. Taking the shotty I fired on the hunter, hit the jukebox and set it off. Death Metal started playing and it seemed more then appropriate because the infected are drawn to the sound. Second part... I think running through the old quarentine area was one of the few times I felt like i was supposed to run rather then just sit back with the team.

AI:
It's good, I have to run through it again, but the zombies maybe dumb. The special infected are smarter, but the Boomer and tanks are still stupid. The other infected... that's a secret.

Overall:
Game looks good so far, they just need to turn down the grain filters and don't become hammy like they did with L4D...

I'm getting it. I loved the orignal game, and I love the southern, bayou setting, as it seems to "fit" the zombie apocalypse much better than the northeast.

Eddie, I have to agree with you there. Though I prefer an urban setting, something about Louisiana just makes me happy. I loved my trip to New Orleans. (I'm a bit biased seeing how I am a huge jazz nut)

What are you getting it for?

You're going to love the Parish level. They use the same technique that they did in the first one, where if the zombies are alerted, then the music picks up. Only this time, it's like a jazz player going nuts during an improv session. It fits really well with the action of the game.

Man I've played the demo obsessively. It's sad to see New Orleans dead, but I like the choice of setting. What system are you getting the game for Slayer1? PC?

360 is spawned only by one series and that it. I don't care for it so I refuse to buy it.
