| My only gripe with games that take place many years after a previous game is that almost nothing changes in the world, it's like they are stuck in a rut of no technological advancements. |
And in Star Wars games we actually get better technology when we go backwards in time.

| Also Tebor you definitely need to play Lufia 1 & 2. I'm sure the 99% of us that use emulators could direct you to a safe site. |
Okay, I'm intrigued enough to try it. Just let me upgrade to Win 7 first... Actually this would be a good test of the XP Mode Professional is supposed to have.

That would be pretty rad, kinda like Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals did?
Personally, I'd like a 3D remake of Final Fantasy 6. I'd say Final Fantasy 5, but the game just... works as is. But 6 is an incredible game, and looks so pretty as is in it's sprite form.

I agree. I think it ties (or might just barely be edged out by) Chrono Trigger as the single most beautiful 16-bit game ever made.

I say it beats Chrono Trigger's ass with a backstab of epic greatness in some scenes. Opera!

Hahaha I specifically meant graphically, and I do think the character sprites and colors in Chrono Trigger just slightly edge out FF VI.
The opera scene, however, was absolutely epic. A whole song, sung with nothing but text and music and (some sort of) artificial vocalizations. And I could still sing the damn thing today it stuck in my head so strongly. Amazing.

I have never gotten very far in FF6, every time I start the game I get incredibly bored.

It is creepy that I also recall that scene. I must admit however I hated that part of the game. From a retro sort of position I guess it was clever and amazing for what it was, but from a "I like rock and roll" position I just couldn't get over how it slowed down the plot.

^ I can totally understand where you're coming from on that, but I personally had the exact opposite reaction. Firstly I'm a big fan of opera in general, so just having that in there (not to mention the tiny references they threw in to actual real operas) was very cool for me. I also love to (probably over) read into things, so I read the whole thing as a huge metaphore for Celes's state of mind--singing about love, and loss, and so forth quite eloquently. It actually becomes even more symbolic and pongient in retrospect, after the world breaks and Celes is left alone and contemplating suicide.
*sniffle* See? I got all choked up just writing that and thinking about it again. God I love that game.

I'm the same way and have tried three times now, but I've only tried to play it on an emulator which I think just aren't good for epic RPGs like that. The feeling just isn't the same for some reason.
I just finished Chrono Trigger for the DS (another game I missed on the SNES) and as I said before, would loveto see FF6 get ported over as well. I'm sure if it was on the DS I'd be a lot more into it.

You actually have me thinking... I have been fast playing some RPGs on emulators for the last few weeks. This means that I have been playing them with save states and with the turbo speed option whenever action is slow. I can't tell if it is helping my case of ADD or not. The OCD tells me I have to keep searching for every item everywhere, while the ADD says that it takes too long, so the speed button helps a lot. I hadn't given it much thought, but I think I'll replay FFVI this way soon. It has been a while since I went through it. Going through FFIV like 8 times does seem a bit overkill.
Oh, I should note, I only play games that I have already beaten this way. I would never diminish a game I was unfamiliar with by cheating.
