I call that being a hyper-techual.

Bill Paxton calls that: Big Love.

Any time someone says Bill Paxton's name I think about Fred Haise in space saying, "Oh God, no, no don't kill me. I'm not a spy. I'm nothing. I'm navel lint. I have to lie to women to get laid, and I don't score much. I got a little dick, it's pathetic."

I know it makes no sense, and isn't relevant at all, but I thought I'd share that bit with you all. From now on I'll picture him saying it while holding a Macbook Pro running OS X 10.6.

Is it wrong I still want a MacBook Air even though it doesn't have the processing power of the other MacBooks and is still $1500?

Not at... yeah... they still don't have a CD drive even though that is what the OS media is shipped on. That just doesn't fucking work. If Apple starts shipping their OS on flash drives then I am all game for CD-less computers. There is just too much trouble to fix one of these things if you get a hard disk error.

I don't really need the disc drive other than the initial installation of Final Draft. And, actually, I've used the wireless disk drive with the Mac I got last year and it works surprisingly well. DVDs even play smoothly, which I was most surprised by.

But, going off another thread, the problem is I would be paying more for a Mac just to do word processing on and maybe simple video editing. Not sure the $1500 price is justified. This also isn't a real conundrum I'm having, I already know I'm not buying one... Unless there's a price drop.

Assuming this has to do with my comment about needing a CD drive:

I would want to install a new OS when a new one came out. For example, MacBook Air computers originally came with OS X 10.5. I would want OS X 10.6 and would have required another computer or CD drive to make that upgrade installation.

Also utilities that work on the hard disk such as Disk Utility require a bootable disk such as the OS X Install CD.

I found out on Friday I could buy a refurbished MacBook Air from Apple for about $1000... I'm still not buying it, but good to know.

If I had money an apple would really be appealing to me since I am interesting in video editing and the sort.
