I saw this movie last night and found it to be enjoyable. They of course had to add a lot of extra stuff to stretch it into a movie. Overall I enjoyed it.

Well yeah, a ten minute movie would be no fun.
I'm going to see this tonight with a friend. We both have very fond memories of the book from when we were kids, and are really looking forward to it.

Maurice Sendak said he likes it.
That scene in the trailer where Max says "Let's all sleep in a pile" may ostend childhood innocence, but it also ostends a super creepy Michael Jackson vibe.

I probably won't see it, though I might.
You know what made me laugh, though? PG - Not Reccomended For Young Children.

I think it's funny that the kid who is playing Max is actually named Max. You just KNOW someone is a great actor when they play characters with the same name as them. I'm looking at YOU, Tony Danza.

Damn you time traveling agent Maurice Sendak, how dare you find an actor and then go back in time and name your excellent book's protagonist after him.

C'mon, we all know they do that for Tony Danza because he gets confused playing characters not named Tony and misses his cues.

I think that was his point.

Just saw this last week. Overall I thought it was wonderful. Brilliant, and very creative. my only issue with the whole thing is that the Things talked in completely normal voices--like, they just sounded like...voice actors. I understand they needed to speak English and be intelligible, but they REALLY needed to add more "animal" to the sound of their voices. As fantastical as they look, hearing a normal human voice coming out of them just murderes suspension of disbelief imo, especially when some of them have REGIONAL ACCENTS.
Still, great movie, and very, very much in the spirit of the book. Awesome take on a boy taking one more step towards growing up.

Frank Oz should have voiced all of the Wild Things. ALL OF THEM.

I've never read the book and this was the last movie I saw. I read snippets of reviews before going in(all you can see of people's reviews on review sites: "This movie was a great...." etc.
The ending left lots of questions unanswered, but they really didn't have to be. It felt kind of, incomplete. Looks like I need to crack a book this semester and read the original :p

Erm, I don't think reading the original will really help clear anything up for you. Its only like 8 sentences long. It might help you understand why so many people love the movie though; the book is still charming and the movie was quite true to its spirit if nothing else.

Max is misbehaving in his wild thing costume, so his parents send him to bed without any supper. Max says, "Screw this" and takes a boat to a far, far away land where the wild things are. When he gets there, the wild things try to scare him, but Max stands strong and tells them to stfu, so they make him their king. Under Max's regime, they all feast, have many sexy parties, and scare each other silly. But then Max gets tired, and tells the wild things that he has to go home, so he gets back on his boat, and sails far, far away back to his bedroom, where he finds his supper waiting for him.
The End.
There, I just saved you $10
