So apparently two of the Campus Police officers on my campus got arrested on Tuesday for breaking and entering, "menacing" and causing chaos in an ex-girlfriends house. And they wonder why they are nothing more then rent-a-cops...

I've had a few run-ins with campus police. Most of them are actually pretty cool if you're respectful and honest, and we even got completely let off the hook when they caught us with booze in our room (dumb idea, I know, freshman stupidity). I walk around a lot at night, so that usually causes some cops to come up to me and ask what I'm doing, but I always give them my ID and am very cooperative, so there's never any trouble. I did have a cop tell me that I had been reported as "suspicious" once, and another cop told me that there was a 15-year old kid in a Misfits shirt running around causing trouble. Luckily, my ID proved that said Misfits fan was not me.

Be careful, sir...campus police are oftentimes actual police officers with all of the powers and responsibilities thereof.
The article you linked said they are "safety officers", which means they probably were private security guards and not police officers, but I don't want you popping off to the wrong guy in a uniform and getting arrested.

All they can really do is issue tickets and call the State Troopers. The most that I've seen them do is threaten a guy to issue a breathalizer and hold him till the police showed up.

Maybe "safety officers" can only do that. Notice how they don't use the term "police".
Perhaps your school doesn't have police on site. Some do, and trust me, they're real cops.

One of the few positive things I can say about PSU is that they have good campus police. Most of them are friendly and reasonable, and are willing to stop stupid shit for everyone's sake. Sure, you get the occasional nerd on a power trip, but they're great for the most part.

On the side of the trucks it's Campus Safety, but they call themselves Campus Police... In fact I've heard them say that alot of times. And besides, the closest town is about an hour away so I dunno...

Interestingly enough, if they're not actually police officers, calling themselves that could get them arrested for impersonating an officer. Any good security guard knows that.
Ask to see their ID and badge. That will tell you. They'll have a badge regardless, but the ID should say they're a peace officer or not.

Ours are real cops, guns and everything. Although, some idiot wants to take away those guns (this after multiple firearms have already been confiscated from the student body. Yeah, I want my cops armed).

I got chased by a campus security guard who caught me pissing outdoors (on the campus chapel, no less). I was drunk and underage at the time.
I outran his fat ass, then doubled-back to my dorm.

My school definitely has real police, I know this because I had to take a test on the student handbook.

I know that where I live, the UMass Lowell "campus police" or whatever are actually state troopers. From wat I see people are usually more afraid of them than the Lowell Police. Probably because the actual police are busy with real crime while the college cops are usually more hardasses because they're always dealing with stupid shit.

My school had real cops. Then again, my high school had more students then my college.
Take that as you will.

This is why we should pull all troops out of foreign countries and place the entire U.S. under marshal law. In today's news a man was gunned down after attempting to flee a group of U.S. Marines. Reports show the suspect was a known terrorist, who had been looking to deface a chapel, the suspect was found with multiple gun shot wounds and covered in urine. Now back to Greg with your sports update!

Where I go to school, they don't fuck around. They have the campus police, city police, state police, county police and the tribal police. All in the little town of Mount Pleasant, MI.

Thanks, Ash. Today Terrell Owens got chased by a campus security guard who caught him urinating outdoors (on the campus chapel, no less). He was drunk and underage at the time.
