| Quote: |
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – A homemade balloon aircraft landed in a Colorado field but there was no sign of the 6-year-old boy believed to be inside. Rescue crews surrounded the balloon that landed Thursday afternoon in a field after two hours in the air.
Cathy Davis of the Larimer County Sheriff's Department told reporters the balloon was owned by the boy's parents and tethered behind the family's home. She said two sons were playing outside when the older boy saw the younger one go into a compartment at the bottom of the balloon and fly away. |
Oh no! Who could have possibly forseen that letting your children play unattended near your hot-air balloon would have serious consequences? How about ANYONE WITH A BRAIN?
This is even worse than the time I let Kris Lexia play with the carving knives.

Unforgivable really...the parents need to be charged with negligence or something.

This is why I'm in favor of a child licensing bureau.

On a bright note, at least it was a homemade balloon, so the parents can't try to misdirect the fault by blaming the company that made it to cover up their own guilt at being shitty parents.*
*See about 99% of the other "child dies while unattended by adult" news stories.

^ I was quick to say "not funny syd" but I actually READ the article this time...that's just beyond stupidity, this is just fucked up. This kid lost his life because his parents are freakin' dumb asses.

So, the balloon was so easy to fly a 6 years old kid managed to do it? If they had installed any kind of security (like, against theft) it wouldn't have happened.
Even then, the kid was doomed anyway if his parents owned any of those items : a pool, a gun, a car, a kitchen knife...

I have been following this on FOX News all day. Shepherd Smith's commentary trumps on any other talking head by a mile, the dude is hilarious. He said "Hey, ain't nobody checked under the kids bed?"
Of course a kid dying isn't funny but it hasn't been proven he is dead. I watched them finally catch the balloon and cut it open and shit and no boy, and eyewitnesses say they saw an object fall from the balloon not far from the parents house. He is either hiding in the basement or dead. Unfortunate, but the parents should fucking be jailed for sure. They mentioned the father had built hundreds of prototypes so he should have fucking known better.

Wow, he was hiding in a fucking box. I can understand assuming the worst but I can't understand not scouring your fucking property first to count that out of the equation.

I have to admit, when I first about this (before I'd heard about him hiding in a box), I really felt for the kid. Ever since I was a kid, I've had an intense fear of heights & falling (read: ski lifts and their lack of seat belts), and I can't imagine the psychological trauma of being alone that high up in the air with no idea of how to get down.

WHY are these people allowed to be parents? I've been increasingly more and more wanting to get a vasectomy because of these rotten little shits. It's a damn shame he wasn't really on that balloon.

I just don't want to be romantically involved AT ALL just to avoid having a child like that.

I'm really AH. I blatantly had my account disabled on a whim that I wouldn't be posting here anymore (I wasn't really banned), but made this account knowing I couldn't log in anymore a few days later (today). I'm waiting on having my account merged by Syd (hopefully).

I just heard on the news that the kid is fine, he wasn't in the balloon after all. Thanks for giving the nation a heart attack, parents.

I'll pose this question;
Why do people think that publicity like this is good? Is it because our society doesn't frown on such a thing nowadays? I think we need to go back to the tarred and feathered days if you pulled some stupid shit.

It was a weather balloon. I have heard like 3 other new's sources say "Well that was a pretty awful hot air balloon!" That's because it wasn't.
It's a family of ignorant storm chasers who don't respect the weather enough and who will probably have their eldest child get sucked up into a tornado to gather storm data.
