Well, if anyone is interested in a studio apartment in Central Mass for $600 a month, all utilities included, I just moved out of one.

$600 dollars a month!!! WITH Utilities!!! Hfs I need to move to Massachusetts! Out here in SoCal, that would cost you $1200 easy, depending on how close to downtown you are. Damn.

Central mass isn't exactly downtown Boston. He was probably 100 miles from the city.

Yeah, here in the greater Boston area that'd be much more. My apartment was 800 sq. ft. for $950 a month (Which went up every year) which included water and heat, but not electricity (Or internet/phone/cable, obviously). Also, we weren't allowed to have washing machines or anything in our apartments, we had to use the coin operated ones, so we didn't get to take full advantage of the free water. Of course, that was also about 35 miles away from Boston itself, practically in New Hampshire. For $950 a month in the actual city of Boston you'd be lucky to be able to rent a 200 sq. ft. room above a bowling alley and below another bowling alley.

hehe, nice frank grimes reference
anyhow, in phoenix, when i first moved here, we had a 2 bedroom apartment w/utilities included and no deposit for $600. that was about 5-6 years ago. granted, the area was ghetto. very much so. so ghetto in fact that Dominos wouldnt deliver to us. corporate told them to stop delivering because they had been robbed too many times. so, if we wanted pizza, the guy had to wait out in the parking lot w/the car running and facing an exit and we had to go out there and get the pizza lol.
but it was pretty close to downtown phoenix, about 6-7 miles.

I live about an hour away from Boston (I just moved up the street, still in the same city). And it's a not-small metro area, but not exactly big either (about 40,000 people between two bordering cities). And there's a nearby college.
But no, it's not exactly a "steal". Were were happy with the place, it was just too small for 2 people.

I am paying $750 a month to rent a 2 Bedroom House with Basement and Garage. (Garbage service is the only utility included in the rent.)
It's a steal based on current prices in the area, though.

Incorrect. Fuck New Hampshire. It's a nice to place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Geez, you guys should move to Missouri. No, wait, don't. This place sucks. But yeah, my dad lives in a very nice two-bedroom apartment for $450 a month, water, heat, and cable included.

Depends on what you call "Boston", of course (usually, when I go to Boston, I'm going to Alewife and taking the T in). But yeah. Route 2 into the city takes about an hour.

Maybe he meant to say you won't like it.
Or he was just immediately doubting her.

I was paying $1350/mo for a 2br appt (800sq ft) in Brookline (Boston) when I left they sold to the next people for $1950/mo.
In CT I was paying $1337 /mo for a 1br appt (830sq ft) in central CT.
Now I am paying a shit ton more for a house. But at least the mortgage is kinda like paying myself.

Yeah, but you really have to get through 6-7 years of the mortgage before it pays out well, but it obviously pays more than rent does.
