Turok 2 had better weapons and introduced multiplayer to the series and the controls were good. The experience is better if you had a memory card.

The controls were essentially the same as the original Turok. Multiplayer was ehh for me, I was having more fun with goldeneye. And the memory card wasn't something I really bothered with since Most N64 games had the built in save feature.

Turok 2 is an amazing game at the price of having no built-in save in my opinion.

Audible gasp! A top N64 game thread, and everyone forgot Perfect Dark? Tragic!

Perfect Dark took Goldeneye's Awesome engine, threw incredible graphics into it, put in awesome weapons (Like, say, a sniper rifle that can SHOOT THROUGH WALLS), and just all around rocked the socks off of anyone that played it.

I also disapprove the lack of mention of Super Smash Brothers. I think that's all that needs to be said about that.

Perhaps a mention of Pokemon Stadium 2 is in order as well? Back in the day, that game was HUGE. everyone had it, the graphics were great, and it introduced multi-system linking (IE, putting your Pokemon game into the N64, moving Pokemon around, and even being able to play it on your TV. Awesome!). Surely that aspect alone inspired all the Gamecube/GBA link games made in the Gamecube era (the only notable one being the Tingle assist in The Wind Waker)

Last "why on Earth was this game not mentioned" submission: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

And F-Zero X was awesome. I know that one was said, but Dude it was so great. I don't even like racing games, and I played the heck out of X.

Perfect Dark's multiplayer sucked. Unless you had a 50" TV, it was blurry as hell. And if someone punched you, the screen got even more blurry. And if someone punched you, then killed you, you came back with blurry vision for no good reason. The one player mode was fantastic though.

F-Zero X hasn't aged well at all, especially since an all-around better sequel was released on the GCN.

F-Zero X was damn fun.

I wouldn't call the GCN game better. Here's the progression of the F-Zero franchise:

SNES - Difficult.
N64 - Really difficult.
GCN - Fuck this shit, I quit.

I'm sorry, man, but GX is missing one thing: The soundtrack. I'd take awesome metal over shit techno any day.
