I was watching a screwattack video on Banjo-Tooie and how fucking jealous I am that both of those games are on Xbox arcade but not the Virtual Console where they belong. So I was wondering if there are in fact any third party classic games on multiple consoles, with the possible hope that I'll get to play those games on the Wii rather than having to buy a goddamn Xbox 360.
So yea, any games on both platforms?

WiiWare, I don't consider that to really count.

There are a bunch of SEGA games that are cross-platform with them.

The Contra on the XBLA is actually the arcade version I think. Same game though.

alot of times, the wii will get teh NES or equivalent console versions, while PSN or XBLA will get the arcade versions or some sort of remastered version. usually I prefer the XBLA versions because I already ahve the console versions on cart or emulator.

I hate the Wii. Nintendo totally cockblocked the 360 from an awesome online version of Goldeneye 007. JERKS! At least we're getting Perfect Dark.
Besides, more often than not, the arcade version of games that XBLA gets, verses the console versions for the WII marketplace, tends to be far better. Like honestly: I prefer the XBLA version of Contra over the NES version anyday (although I do miss Up+Up+Down+Down+Left+Right+Left+Right+B+A).

The arcade version of Contra sucked. And all the arcade ports on XBLA let you pump infinite quarters into the game, removing any sort of challenge or strategy.

The same thing happened with the Wii port of Ghost Squad. Though there is still a challenge with the difficulty levels (split second hand to hand combat in level 15. Fuck!).

Some do, not all. But I don't care anyway. I never realized how hard TMNT Arcade was until I played it on Xbox Live. It would have cost me $50 to beat that game in the arcade.

Two words...jump kick, also the more powerful attack when you push a + b down will help a lot.

I utilized the jump kick a lot on the NES version, but it seems to be less effective in the arcade version. And I also find the power attack to be harder to pull off, possibly because of the shape of the Xbox controller. The NES pad had the A+B numbers lined up next to each other, and was thinner, so it was easier.

I don't think I've ever died in Ghost Squad. I fuck up the "shoot the guy with the president" mission all the time though.

++
Truth be told, the NES version's superiority can mostly be attributed to the fact that it split the last level in the arcade version into four separate levels. The arcade version just breezes by way too quickly. Also, I haven't played many games on XBLA, but the enhanced arcade Contra did not give you the ability to input coins...
Speaking of Contra ports, I didn't realize until now how many different versions there are. And they aren't just simple ports with downgraded graphics; all of them appear to have been programmed from scratch. Graphics and level layouts vary quite a bit in each instance. The MSX2 version has life meters and 10 extra stages!

Oh I've definitely died. Not that it means anything.
