Ok, with the ability to export the songs of Rock Band 1 into the second with the exception of Enter Sandman and 2 other songs I don't care about, is it possible to just rent the game, pay the export fee and nobody'd be any the wiser or would Microsoft somehow know that I rented the game? I don't want to actually own Lego Rock Band but there are a few songs on there that I would pay for.

nah it will work fine, I did the same thing with the expansion for elder scrolls. The only thing that may be a jam up is if they need a validation code from the instruction booklet but I highly doubt they had the forethought to do that, so rent it up and enjoy the songs.

I have two copies of Rock Band(Bought the standalone game and later got the bundle as a gift) I let a friend borrow a copy just to transfer the songs to Rock Band 2 and it worked fine.

According to the Wikipedia page and the source, I'll double check and edit with an update.
Edit: After a payment of 800 Microsoft Points and entering a unique game code on the inside of the game manual. so no rentals this time around. The setlist looks decent enough, so I may still pick this up. Way to go Harmonix, you wised up since last time.
