Ok, if you have the Homebrew channel DON'T update it to 4.2. It will remove your HC. I'm just warning you so you don't lose your channel and any game you have on it.
Quote:
Wii Menu version 4.2 is now available for your Wii console. To update your Wii Menu to the latest version, please select the Update button at the bottom of the screen or select the System Update option in the Wii System Settings.

This update provides behind-the-scenes fixes that will not affect features but will improve the overall system performance.

Because unauthorized modifications to save data or program files may impair game play or the Wii console, updating to Wii Menu version 4.2 will also check for and automatically remove such save data or program files.

**Please note: If you've updated your Wii Menu after 9/29/09, you may not need to update again.

Thank you for updating your Wii console!

-Nintendo

I hope this helps...

LOL I put Homebrew on my friends Wii and told him not to update it. He calls me today "Dude, the Homebrews gone, I updated" fucking idiot. If I go to instal homebrew again will it work?

They already did find a way around. http://hackmii.com/2009/09/silly_games/

It's pretty funny how it takes Nintendo weeks to find ways to get rid of this stuff but hackers find work arounds in a day or two.

I don't think so. It doesn't allow you to add/use anything Homebrew.

Well, in order to work, the Homebrew channel requires you to modify the code of the Wii OS. If you fuck up while doing so, it can permanently brick your system. By definition, ANY OS update can potentially remove the Homebrew Channel, if it writes over any of the code that Homebrew modified.

there is a method to unbrick them, I believe.

regardless, most people install a wad that stops the wii from checkign for updates when they first begin homebrewing.

Reinstalled the HBC and everything ended up working. So glad because it was either playing all the old games we put on the Homebrew or playing Ultimate Alliance 2 for the Wii, GAYY.

I had heard that a few people who weren't using Homebrew were having trouble with this update. Nintendo apparently is offering to repair Wiis damaged by this update if they have no evidence of ever running Homebrew.
