Being a scientist in Ukraine, Elena Bodnar was witness to the horrible effects of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear plant disaster. Seeing the environmental devastation brought by the meltdown, she realized the importance of readily available air-filtering devices. Gas masks would surely have been marketable during the Cold War but now, less so. That’s when Elena thought up the Gas Mask Bra.
