Tonight's episode has to be one of the most insensitive things I've seen since Skid and Muflap. The entire Kathy Ireland thing was a complete waste of time and the main story after that was just so insensitive. Like I've said before these kinds of jokes were handled much better in the earlier seasons but now it has just gotten so mean-spirited.
"When You Wish Upon a Weinstein" was so much more well done than tonight's episode, Max even makes a cameo in this one. I will give them credit for not using as many cut-aways this time but all the jokes were just so mean. one cut-away summed up what Family Guy has become when it shows Quagmire thinking he got the spin-off show and saying something like "Have fun with your giant chickens and your Conway Twitty...why is there a moving truck in front of Cleveland's house?"
Peter wearing the Star of David and trying to act Jewish.
Carter trying to lure Lois and her mother with a dollar bill on a string.
Stewie commenting on Jews and the forest moon on Endor.
Lois being strapped to a cross.
Stewie getting the soccer trophy for just tapping the ball.
Peter wanting Lois to wear a shall and a shawl and "peasant boots."
Peter throwing a plate of bagels against a wall.
Peter and Joe trying to snipe Mort.
Jesus calculating a dinner tip
Then of course Seth puts in his entire anti-religion bit in at the end.

While some of the jokes did fall flat, as they inevitable will when 30 minutes is crammed full of them, I think you need to lighten up a little. Joking about stereotypes can be funny without being offensive, and I think they did it well, as they did in "When you Wish Upon a Weinstein". And considering all of TV and film is Jewish these days, clearly they didn't think it too offensive to air.
Stewie getting the trophy was great too because that's what actually goes on in organized sports these days with kids. There are no winners and losers, no score is kept, and anyone who plays gets a trophy. It was a joke about how retarded our PC culture has gotten, and it worked well.

Well it is Family Guy and sensitivity is not their thing, they get off on how far they can get to the line before crossing over ( by TV standards), the canceled abortion episode is a good example. I will give shows like this the benefit of the doubt usually they are equal opportunity offenders, so if it at some point you are offended when watching an episode you know they are doing their job right. Don't take it too seriously..it's a fart joke cartoon for god's sake.

I would like to see an episode where the family guy cast tries to not be insensitive and the whole show is about them trying to hold back their verbal urges until they all just pop!

I would like it if a show could tread on sensitive ground and not have to be offensive. Anyone can be offensive.

That is what it was like in the first few seasons and it worked well. I was not offended by this episode but the writing has gone downhill and now they seem to just trying to be offensive for the sake of being offensive. Like I said episodes like this one were done much better in the earlier seasons.

Meh, except for the Quagmire jokes, I was just thinking the whole time that they've already done the "ripping on Jews" and "ripping on Catholics" thing to death. And really, Brian as Author Avatar is reeeeeeally starting to piss me off.

That bit was funny, but that wasn't quite the joke they were going for, I think.

The problem I've had with Family Guy ever since it's been back on the air is the fact that the writing feels real weak and lazy. Seth always throws his little messages in there, not that it's a bad thing to have a take on things, but when your messages are SO intolerant of the way other people feel, especially when it comes to religion or politics, you really polarize your audience. And the sheer shock factor nowadays. People always complain about the cutaways, but I have to say the level of "shock comedy" really annoys me. I'm not offended by it, but at the same time I shake my head at how low they have to stoop in order to get people to watch their show. It's as if they're saying "Oooh, look how edgy and hip we are!" Yet at the same time, they try to throw a "mature message" in there. And not to offend anyone on here and know that comedy is completely subjectable, but this really seems like it's appealing most to people in early high school.

Yeah, the show has become offensive, artless shock comedy. It seems like every episode they find an excuse to rip on religion. When they did "When You Wish Upon A Weinstein", they made tasteless jokes, but Seth also consulted some rabbis from Anti-Defamation League and they endorsed it since Peter ended up learning the right lesson.
You can poke fun at religions, the hypocrisies of some of their leaders, and the more intricate parts of their dogmas without being a complete dick about it. South Park does this. The Simpsons does this. The Life of Brian did this. And Dogma did this.

This is the primary reason the show has become pretty damn hard to watch. The "legalize pot" episode was particularly painful to watch.
Secondary reason: Overly long gags. Quick cutaway to Conway Twitty: acceptable. Entire fucking song: So not.
Tertiary reason: Oh, for fuck's sake, leave Meg alone already.

I agree, the Conway Twitty thing pissed me off. I didn't mind it originally when it was a quick cut-away but not the entire song. Or when they used the entire Christian Bale tirade and the Bryan Adams music video in the same episode. Those two gags ate up like half of the episode. The whole "pot" song was quite long as well.

You know, Peter Griffin isn't entertaining anymore. He's just a gigantic irredeemable destructive retard with a complacent wife, a condescending douchebag of a dog, two unlikeable teenager children, and a gay baby.
Stan Smith is everything Peter Griffin used to be - and should still be - impulsive, somewhat selfish, somewhat misinformed, and somewhat stupid. But he's also passionate about his family and his beliefs, and he tries to do the right thing. He usually ends up doing the right thing too, but he always takes the scenic route to get there. Oh yeah, and he has a JOB. And he goes there. A LOT.

I concur.
For me, the Star Wars episode was the final nail in the coffin.

The SW ep was a good example of how the show has been ever since it was renewed humor-wise.
Sometimes, they throw the gag out and it's the funniest thing on the planet.
Others, they throw it, and it's...well...at bet not funny, and at worst, barely qualifies as humor.

Family Guy shot themselves in the foot with the shock "humor." It's a self defeating cycle. The people who like shock comedy are not offended by it, and the ones who are don't watch it.

Yeah. Once you start to expect the shock, you run into a conundrum. Each thing has to be more shocking than the last. But there's limit to how shocking you're allowed to be. Once you reach that limit, there's not much more you can do.

Family Guy is like the aging boxer that misses constantly yet occasionally can throw a knockout punch. In the end though he is still painful to watch.

This is the worst season of "Family Guy" yet.
However, "American Dad" is actually pretty good. I never thought I'd say that either.

"American Dad" seems to be becoming the new "King of the Hill". Started out unwatchable, somehow managed to stay on the schedule, it slips under the radar, and 10 years later, you see it and think, "Holy shit, is that still on the air?" And it actually turned out to be a decent show.

Yeah, I really ended up enjoying "King of the Hill". It was a relaxing show that always gave me a chuckle. I really saw the charm of it during the last three or so seasons.
Although I was sorely disappointed by the series finale. Then again, it was never a story driven show, so ending it in a "life goes on" sort of way was very appropriate.

Really? I liked the finale. I guess it kinda ended in a "life goes on" way in that no one died or anything, but as you said it wasn't really a story driven show and the main point of the finale was that Hank and Bobby finally had a lifelong bond that they had been trying to form for the entire series.

I love King of the Hill. I always thought it was a very well written character driven show. It was like an animated sitcom, a good one. I also enjoyed the finale. "Under the bleachers, that's where at risk youth gather!"--Hank Hill
