this is mostly to plug MacGruber, the new SNL movie, but im sure it'll get derailed to other SNL movies. anyhow:

JustJared has provided us with photographic evidence that there is indeed going to be a “MacGruber” movie. Until now, I wouldn’t allow myself to believe it.

Based on the Saturday Night Live sketch of the same name, MacGruber (Will Forte) is a MacGyver type, but because of random drama, he never diffuses the bomb and the scene ends in an explosion. The sketch is mostly funny, but that’s because it’s about a minute-long sketch and features Kristen Wiig.

Apparently Ryan Phillippe is also in the movie, according to the photo below. I kind of think this movie might suck. Maybe Shia LaBeouf can reprise his role as MacGruber’s gay son.

Why?

Hasn't Lorne Michaels learned by now, that anything that is only marginally funny in very small 3 minute doses does not translate well into 90 minute movies?

Honestly, other than The Blues Brothers and Wayne's World, has there been any other good SNL movies?

Night at the Roxbury wasnt too bad.
Hot Rod was produced by Michaels, but not sure if that counts.

Stuart Saves His Family is the most criminally underrated SNL movie ever.

Ladies Man wasn't terrible.

The Blues Brothers will always be the best SNL movie.

Granted,I was one of those early nineties kids that never watched Wayne's World or saw the appeal of "party time, excellent". Which is weird because I loved when Bill and Ted.

Waynes World seems terribly aged now and I dont think I will ever sit down just to watch it.

Night at the Roxberry had 1 good scene and it was at the end where he said he was sick of the song.

I saw the Ladies Man, yet it has nothing memorable about it I can recollect.

Much like the National Lampoon movies, I stay as far away as I can from these movies, I learned my lesson with Superstar, athough I SHOULD'VE learned my lesson with Night at the Roxbury. I'm not even familiar with this sketch, but if it is a MacGyver parody, I doubt it's worthy of a release, although a true MacGyver movie (with Richard Dean Anderson) would kick all sorts of ass.
