So, apparently they fucked this up. The game's official site claims there are 20 characters, but the first reviews say there are only 16, and three of them are Rabbids from Ubisoft's super shitty rip-off of the already shitty Wario Ware series.
All of the TMNT characters appear to be from the last 7 years. The only 80s goodness in the game are a Technodrome level and the 80s style logo. Fucking A.

I actually liked the first Rabbids game. The second one was a walk in the wrong direction. For the most part I like Ubisoft, but I'm pretty sure I can name 20 characters of the top of my head without a Rabbid insight. 20 Characters in this day in age is just to little. I like variety with my fighting games otherwise they get stale extremely quick.

20 would have been better than 16!

I would not be surprised if they made extra characters as DLC. For some games there is an additional $80 just in downloadable content. That shit pisses me off. Especially since I just finished Star Wars: Force Unleashed and they are selling two (2) levels for $9.99 EACH! W...T...F?! Luckily my buddy had one of them downloaded, and it took about 10 minutes to complete, so $1 a minute? Anyways back on topic...
They better have Mona Lisa added to the roster, she was my favorite...

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I still would've marked out for Beebop, Rocksteady, Krang, Tohka, or Rahzar.

apparently those 3 rabbids are only available if you buy them from a certain place. at least according to 1up.com:

| And if you bought the game from the right store, you also get not one, not two, but three groan-worthy Rabbids from the Raving Rabbids series. Not quite the same as having, say, Usagi Yojimbo. Maybe the roster says more about this decade's iterations of TMNT than anything, but individual characters aside, the number of characters (13, minus the Rabbids) is also somewhat underwhelming, especially if you were expecting Smash Bros.-like numbers of fan favorites. |

either way, thats still a small selection of characters to toy around with. and the rabbids are a very stupid addition

from what I was told, the rabbids were added ex post facto, so it's not like someone else didn't get added to make room for the rabbids.
I'm still gonna get this game, because I'm a ninja turtles fan and it looks like a lot of fun. I'm pretty stoked that nightwatcher is in it.

I preordered it before there were any reviews, so I'm going to give it a shot. I am hopeful that despite a tiny roster, it'll still be really fun.

Having played this game, I'm sad to say it's fairly awful. It'll be down to $19.99 within 3 months.

The game feels half-assed.
The much hyped "story mode co-written by Peter Laird" is a fucking joke.
There are too few characters, you can unlock everything within 5 hours, the battle items are dumb, the controls are laggy. It is just not a fun game.
The only thing they seemed to put any effort into whatsoever were the level designs. The level designs are absolutely fantastic.

Well, I was considering purchasing the PS2 version, since I did see it was availible for that console, but I now am rethinking and probably won't consider it then if it is indeed that terrible. If it does go down to 19.99 in three months I just might reconsider it.
