The 360 pad is pure ass incarnate for fighting games. I tried playing SFII Hyper Fighting with it and it's really hard to play, even with the analog stick.
If you wanna be cheap, get the SFIV FightPad. It's a six button controller akin to say, your classic Genesis or Saturn ones. Very good to use.
If you're willing to blow cash, then I suggest the arcade stick, or the Tournament Edition stick which is the most expensive, but is the ultimate controller for your SFIV experience.

I hate hate HATE arcade sticks. I'm only decent at fighting games on the PC and home consoles. I need to a controller that I can grip. I don't understand how people can play with them. The directional control is very unreliable and it's especially frustrating in games that require precise directional timing, like say Donkey Kong. Fuck you Mario, go up the ladder. Not to mention that at least 50% of all arcade consoles I've ever encountered are broken. Either one of the buttons doesn't work, or the stick doesn't respond correctly, because some worthless 10-year-old fuck fucking raped it.
So anyway, I almost picked this game up yesterday, but Target was out of it. So I got House of the Dead instead.

I tryed a demo at the Gamestop. The analog stick works suprisingly well. The new characters are all retards, with rufus taking top dog for his cartoon gut with love trail. Gross. The luchador is basically Ramon with less personality, I'm meh on Abel, and Rooster lady continues to be a KoF reject.
It feels...light. Its a great game to bring people back into the 2-d versus, and I really liked it, but there doesn't feel like there's very much depth like there was with Third Strike. Third strike reminded me a bit like chess; more advanced than checkers, nothing too arcane, but theres another level waiting where the true masters play thats just amazing to watch.
Zangief has an anime into, and I really like it in spite of myself.

Super Street Fighter 4 is Real and isn't Downloadable Content
It seemed abundantly clear that we were witness to an impressive hoax or simply an early look at a new Super Street Fighter game after a leak surfaced over the weekend. Screenshots showing, among other things, a returning T. Hawk led us to believe it was real and now we have confirmation of Super Street Fighter 4. Despite the popular theory that the new game would be released as downloadable content for the existing Street Fighter 4 game, GameSpot reports that Super Street Fighter 4 will be released in the form of a disc next spring for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 -- and it won't be a full priced release.
The very immediate and obvious question that springs to mind is just why Capcom made the decision to make this a disc-based released, as opposed to simply doing it as DLC. Producer Yoshinori Ono explained that this was due to the fact that Street Fighter 4's code wasn't designed with this sort of expansion in mind, and the game simply wouldn't be able to support the features being added in SSF4. A downloadable release was considered but ultimately ruled out due to these technical constraints. To ease the minds of SF4 owners, Ono promises that there will be some sort of bonus given to SSF4 buyers who own a copy of SF4, but just what that bonus might be is unclear at this point. You'll definitely want to hang onto your copy of SF4 if you plan on playing online with non-upgrading fans, as the two games won't be compatible with one another.
You can expect to see "roughly" eight new characters -- though that figure could still change -- in addition to the 25 that Street Fighter 4 shipped with. Among the additions are T. Hawk and the brand new Juri, who may not be the only new character added to the mix, as Capcom is looking to add both new and retro characters alike. Other changes include various balance tweaks, new ultra combos for the existing cast of SF4 characters, and an enhanced online component (no specifics on just what's being improved here, except a hint of a potential lobby system).
More details are sure to emerge as we approach the game's release next spring. At least now we know that we can firmly file this rumor as "fact." |

I'm wagering Deejay is one of the other characters they add. Wasn't Juri one of Bison's doll agents from Alpha 3?

Super Street Fighter 4 Listed for $40, March 23
When Capcom announced that Super Street Fighter 4 would be a standalone game and not a downloadable update, they promised it wouldn't be full price. And if GameStop's recent listing is to be believe, that seems to be the case: MTV Multiplayer reports that the retailer has listed Super Street Fighter 4 for release on March 23 for $40.
Which begs the question: Is $40 as cheap as you were expecting? A March 23 release would put it at retail just over a year after Street Fighter 4's release back in February, and Capcom promises "roughly" eight new characters (including newcomer Juri and returning characters Dee Jay and T. Hawk), updated online functionality, rebalanced gameplay, and a mysterious "bonus" for people who already own Street Fighter 4. Whether that'll be enough new content to justify a $40 purchase will, in the end, be up to every individual owner of Street Fighter 4, but for perspective, keep in mind hundreds of thousands of Madden fans spend $60 dollars for a new addition in their franchise every year.
And it should also be noted, of course, that Capcom has yet to confirm (or deny) that this price and date are official. But they've mentioned the game would be released in spring of 2010 before, so this sounds about right. Once we get any kind of confirmation, we'll pass it along. |
this is actually very cool since i wouldve been pissed if it was a full priced game. granted $40 is still a bit high in terms of just an expansion pack, but at least its not $60.

I don't own the original SFIV, so this will be cool to me and I'm guessing the game will look for saved data of the original for the unlockable bonus(es). Which would be good, as I only rented the original.

You can download the PC version somewhere. Also why should I really care if we can zoom in on Sakura's blood stained panties. Who really wants to see deflowered butt's red velvet.

No you can't download any version of Super Street Fighter IV right now...and what the hell are you talking about? Anyway, even though it's just an upgrade I'm really excited for this game.

Super Street Fighter IV Features Better Netplay, Classic Bonus Stages
What's the biggest problem with Street Fighter IV? The controls? The difficulty level? Come on. You know it's the fact that Capcom hasn't thrown any cheesy bonus stages into their fighting games in over ten years. Luckily for us, that little oversight has been fixed.
According to this week's Famitsu magazine, Super Street Fighter IV will once again feature bonus stages, which will be inserted into both Arcade and Challenge modes. The two bonus stages revealed should be familiar to old fighter nuts -- one has your character punching and kicking barrels rolling his or her way, while the other (and more memorable) one has you trying to dish as much damage as possible on a parked car with your slate of special moves.
Capcom also announced a couple of new additions to Super SFIV's online support:
- A Replay Channel that lets you voice-chat with other users while watching videos and gives you a chance to save replays locally to hard disc.
- Endless Battle, a new "winner's outs"-style tournament mode for up to eight players.
- Team Battle, a group-based tournament that allows teams of two or four to compete against each other.
You'll get to try all this out for yourself next March, when Super SFIV is slated to hit the PS3, 360 and PC. |

Fuck yes! Team battle finally!!! My roommate and I have been wanting a tag version or a team battle of SFIV as DLC since the game came out, never thought there would actually be one! This game is now officially the game I'm looking forward to the most...and it's nothing but an update!
