				From E! online
 "Keanu Reeves is going intergalactic again.

 He of the comforting monotone has hitched his wagon to 20th Century Fox's big-screen adaptation of the acclaimed Japanese anime series Cowboy Bebop, which is set in 2071, 50 years after a massive lunar explosion decimated Earth's population and necessitated the colonization of the entire solar system.

 Thanks to greater than usual logistical issues, an elite team of Old West-style bounty hunters, or cowboys, is needed to keep the peace.

 Per the Hollywood Reporter, Reeves is attached to play Spike Siegel, a reformed criminal turned space cowboy and copilot of the Bebop, who, like a character from the actor's past, is well-versed in kung fu and other combat skills but is toting around quite a few personal demons.

 No word yet on who's in line to play Spike's copilot, Jet Black, a onetime Inter-Solar System cop with a mechanical arm, but so far we're liking the whole Firefly-Battlestar Galactica-Bill & Ted vibe."

				Ugggh...Man.
 Cowboy Bebop is one of my most favorite animes and it deserves first class treatment. Casting Reeves is a bit retarded and already shows me they have no grasp on what they're trying to do, and thus will be a terrible movie. Reeves just doesn't have the swagger that is needed for Spike.

Thanks for the implication that I'm first class! It is appreciated.

				Speaking of Panda Juice, I once went on a blind date / house party type thingomabob and the girl asked what kind of side dish I wanted her to bring. Being an unrepentant ass I demanded she bring popcorn juice.

She got bonus points in my book, she brought a cup of blenderized popcorn mixed with enough water to make a viscous disgusting slop. I chickened out and refused to drink it. |

| Yeah, this would be really cool. But Keanu Reeves? ...Really? |
I don't mind Reeves in some movies...Bill & Ted, Speed, The Matrix but some movies he does not do well in. I mean the way he talks is just stupid. I remember seeing him in Bram Stoker's Dracula and just hating his character. I remember thinking of him when in WWF they did an angle where Booker T was auditioning for a movie and he was trying to read a script for some historical British kind of movie. It was pretty funny but in Dracula I hated how they cast Reeves because he in all honesty is a pretty poor actor.

This all reminds me of a skit on the cartoon The Critic where they were making fun of Speed. They had a movie called "Speed Reading" and he the Dennis Hopper character says something like "If you go below 50 words per minute this book will explode." Reeves then starts reading and a couple seconds later the book explodes.
Here is the clip:

You summed it up for me perfectly here. Swagger is the perfect adjective that Reeves is lacking.

				Why not Jason Statham for the role of spike. I mean I know the hair thing and all or his lack of it a bit, but he has better swager for it, and if not him like a 100 other guys would have been better.

				While we're considering casting, any thoughts for Jet, Faye, Edward, and Vicious?

Jet = Bruce Willis

Faye = Christina Richi

Ed = Julianna Rose Mauriello

Ein = Eddie from Frasier.

Who's Vicious again?     |

				They took one of the very few anime shows that I like, and put Keanu "One Expression" Reeves in as the main character.
 Fuck Hollywood, man.

 BTW, Mickey Rourke as Jett.

				You don't see the solution?? It's simple:
We kill the Keanu Reeves

 Also, Kurt Russel as Jet

And Kingpin is white, but a black guy handled the role in Daredeviljust fine. Just saying.

				Can hollywood stop casting Reeves in human roles, he actually looks convincing in the remake of 'the day the earthstood still' All i'm saying is Reeves may make a better alien cameo or even as a 'Vicious' bounty, but Spike has too much personality to really get me to imagine Reeves playing his role.
 I have a bad feeling this is going to be a Reeves vehicle much in the same vain as 'Judge Dread' was a Stallone vehicle. I won't pass judgment until the movie further develops.
