It was a mediocre game and the SNES version was one of the worst ports of it.

The original Apple 2 version of Prince of Persia was a huge step forward in sprite fluidity and animation. The same can be said of the most faithful ports.
The sexed up 90s remakes are not without their fans, but I am not a fan; I prefer Jordan Mechner's original, significantly more innovative vision. The SNES remake may be prettier, but it lacks the fundamental charms of the original game. I do not hate it with the same passion that I hate the embarassingly awful Super Mario All-Stars, but it doesn't impress me.

Alien 3 was shitty up and down.... the NES version I thought was better because I had figured it would be good on the SNES, but it just sucked.

The only reason Alien 3 didn't make the list was because Syd never played it, both due to his never having owned an SNES and out of fear that he'd find it shitty like he did the movie and NES game.
Right, Syd?

I believe we have a young man (or woman) who needs to learn the difference between a "Top X Games List" and a "My Favorite Games List"
Just because you like a game doesn't make it good, and just because you don't like a game doesn't make it bad. I like quite a few games that suck (NES Strider) and hate quite a few that are good (FF VII)
In theory, the same games (with some slught variation) should be at the top of every top X list. But a list of favorite games will nearly always be different.
BTW, Syd, I'll get "that" to you Monday. With my new work schedule, expecting anything out of me Thursday through Sunday is foolish.

The problem with any list is that no matter how big it is, you're always gonna have a thousand people sending you e-mails saying "You forgot..."
Also, I hate every Prince of Persia except for Sands of Time. I realize the significance of the originals, but the controls are crap.
Also, Syd, you forgot UN Squadron in your top 100 list.

So here's to you Mrs. Robinson. People love you more- oh, nevermind. |

UN Squadron is indeed awesome, and only barely missed the cut.

Judging by the list, you can tell Syd and the guys are very RPG oriented, so naturally they are going to omit the odd mediocre platformer/adventure game.
The real issue here is that Off Road and Super Off Road are nowhere to be seen on either of the top 100 lists. You guys have hurt Ivan "Ironman"Stewart's feelings!!

Equinox should have been in the top 100, probably in the top 20. Syd must not have played that one either. It was the sequel to Solctice. It was pretty damn hard but a cool game nonetheless. Also placing Super Mario RPG ahead of Chrono Trigger in the top 100 seems like blasphemy.

I agree that UN squadron and equinox certainly should have been on the list, but there is also a few other games that in my opinion should be there instead of some crappy sport or fighting game.
On the Nes, i miss Dragon Warrior 2, Shatterhand, Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles Quest, Startropics 2 and Blue Shadow to name a few. None of them are exceptional, but I certainly prefer them over a few of the games already on the list.
On the Snes, i also miss Mickey Mania, Goof Troop and the Lost Vikings to name a few. However, the snes list does in my opinion have very few weak games on it, so it is more understandably that these fun but pretty average games were left out. On the nes-list however, i would say there is quite a few outright bad or completely uninteresting games that could be left of in favor of the ones i mentioned.

However, all in all i must say that i really like your lists and they are pretty close to what i would have come up with myself. Its great to see that Zelda 2 get the recognition it deserves (there is a lot of rant about that one), and that Metal Gear barely makes it into the top 20. Makes me want to puke that AVGN recently had a review on this one.

The NES list had DW1, DW3, and DW4. That's a lot of Dragon Warrior. I always felt DW2 was the weakest in the series. And that's coming from someone who didn't particularly like the chapter system in 4.

"AVGN did it!" <> "The game sucks"
He made it clear it was a half-decent game, and he pointed out several (and legitimate) flaws the game has. And remember that part of his gimmick is over-exaggerating the little irritating things about games.

I just picked up a game called ignition factor, and I must say it deserves to break the top 100...

As far as underrated SNES games that I didn't see on the list; I would nominate Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures.
I always felt that it was a superior game over the Star Wars games, the only complaint I had was they squeezed all 3 movies in one game and lacked several big scenes. But overall, gameplay far exceeds the Star Wars trilogy.
A couple others I want to also nominate; Tin Star, Bust-A-Move, and Joe and Mac.

It was never released state-side.

By the way, i am playing trough DKC3 now for the first time, and while dixie and kiddy sucks as characters, i must say that i prefer the levels and the overworld in this game to the second DKC game, and maybe also to the first. The second game was almost without normal plattform stages, and far too many original/boring "navigate some stupid animal or do some shitty stuff with barrels"-stages. The third game is however, far too easy so far which is a let down.
