I recently went digging around in my garage, and found some old floppy disks. They mostly contain games, and I was going to run them via DOSBox. Problem is, I don't have a floppy drive on any computer I own. So, what I'm asking is: Do any of you have any recommendations for external floppy drives? Also, can an external drive write floppies?

Are we talking the little 3" floppy disks, or the honkin' 6" ones?

You can buy usb powered external drives for $20-$40.

Such as:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812816096&cm_re=3.5_floppy_drive-_-12-816-096-_-Product

It reads and writes just like any floppy drive.

I didn't laugh. I cried a little. But I assure you, no laughing.

The last time you asked me I talked with some co-workers and one of them brought me a an old machine which is now under my desk at work with a 5.25" bay. It might even function. Next week I'll try to remember to test it out.

I made a mod years ago, where I took the faceplate off of a Slotload DVD-Rom, and replaced the face with the front of a 5.25" floppy drive. I even made the drive light on the 5.25" drive work, by splicing it into the activity light from the DVD-rom.

I ended up selling the PC that had that mod, and I wish I still had it. It's getting hard to track down 5.25"floppy drives nowadays.
