I was on another forum like, 5 minutes ago.

I found that a guy named Daniel Barras of the site www.zfgc.com (Zelda Fan Game Central) is working on Ocarina of Time 2D. The name pretty much speaks for itself... He's been working on it since 2003, and still is today.

Quote:
The game is basically the 2D translation of Ocarina of Time for N64. It will include everything from the original game, and i BELEIVE he was intentionally coding in the glitches found in 1.0 gold cart, but i'm unsure if this will still be a feature. It will also include a special dungeon and 3 extra items (i think it's armor, boots, and another sword. The only thing i can say for sure is the armor).

He'll release a beta soon

Now, prepare for shock!
These are updated screenshots (Sept. '06)

And these are some old ones (Not sure if they're new or not)

For those who can't do Project64 on their PC should get this. I'm interested in this anyway, even though I have the rom to the original...

Man, I can't wait.

I don't understand, though. Fan works are supposed to be legal, as long as no-one's making money off of it? Do you want to support your fanbase, or supress it?

Or did those people do something wrong...?

Late EDIT:I look forward to this too http://www.exe-undersq.com/site/exe7news

It's still copyright infringement. A programming group was working on a fan-made version of King's Quest IX, citing that Sierra had destroyed the franchise with the shitty KQ VIII and then abandoned it. Sierra caught wind of the project and sued them over their use of the King's Quest name.

An agreement was reached and the game is now being released as The Silver Lining instead of as KQ IX: Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining. Interestingly enough, the main character still looks like King Graham and may even be referred to as such.

I had actually forgotten about the KQ project until you mentioned this. A playable demo, which I haven't tried yet, is available here:

Something similiar like that happened with Square Enix. A couple people were working on a Chrono Trigger remake, until SE put a stop to it.

Square Enix is probably planning their own Chrono Trigger remake. They've already remade Final Fantasy 1-5 for Nintendo handhelds.

And how will Link look as an adult? The same?

I wonder if they'll include the sinking lure. Or the Tri-Force.

Also, the mini games will probably be significantly easier.

If they were gonna include glitches, I'm sure they'd include the sinking lure.

What's everybody talking about I never played this game Cool

I was too busy gibbing people in Quake deathmatch to care about faggy elves Sad

This is gonna be on PC, right? It looks pretty neat I guess. I usually like top down zelda games, so hopefully this is fun for me. The only one I didn't really like was the minish cap.

Looks good and everything... but what's the point? Does the world really need a 2D SNES-ish version of OoT? Why can't we remake the bad games? Like that Zelda's Adventure?

I'll bite.

I hate Oot, I hate wind waker, I ahte majoras mask, I ate the new one that rips off okami. I hate them because I don't like the 3d. they don't feel like zelda games to me. they aren't fun.

my favoite zelda jsut so happens t obe a link to the past. it was just as doop and complex as OoT, but it was in traditional 2d. putting Oot in 2D will give me a way to enjoy and appreciate it.

I'm not sure I agree with that belief, but best of luck to ya!

I don't mean to stomp on your feelings and experiences, but playing a game in an alternative form that keeps the game exactly the same doesn't sound too unique to me. Sure there are ports which are definitely different experiences: "Max Payne" for the Game Boy Advance remained pretty much the same game, but there was an obvious drop of quality. There was a top down version of GTA3 at one point, which I could see similar problems arising.

A 2D OoT sounds like a color version of a black and white film to me. Or rather I should allude it to that Psycho remake which took the same script and reshoot Hitchcock's film shot by shot (more or less).

That is the best thing EVER. Want more.

By the way, the address zgfc.com doesn't work. It takes me to some generic search-sale site. Why is that?[/i]

The opinion I hold of fanfics in general is that they are like the night sky. The good ones are the stars, and the shittastic ones fill the black space in between.

that's not what I mean. I mean I didn't bother getting into the story or anything goign on in the game, because I couldnt stand playing it in 3d, with taht Z targeting and auto jumping and all that shit. now I can play it in a more traditional way, and maybe actualyl give a shit about hte water temple and the master sword and epona and all that shit.

Hey Jew, I just realized that your favorite Zelda is the only one that bothered with experience points.

nope. the only one with experience points (if my memory serves me correctly, it's been years now) was adventures of link on NES (the side scroller). link to the past was the SNES one that was amazy.

I agree with this as well. Zelda started as a 2D game, and should stay that way. Just like Castlevania, which simply isn't Castlevania, when it is in 3D.
